The biggest tip I can say that has helped my game is use all of your wedges. If you have a LW, don't take it out on every pitch shot. Use your SW/GW or even a 8 or 9 iron to get the ball rolling on the green towards the target on line quicker, it turns into more of a putt.

Yeah, I just haven't put in the time yet. That 7-9 iron chip is a bitch if you haven't practiced and gotten the feel for it. Lots of runners passed the hole if not

Oh, absolutely. It's challenging to make yourself throttle back and not hit it so hard when you've been flying higher shots further onto the green.

I use a 4i a lot when in the short stuff around the green. Play it lie a long putt. I too have been hot with the putter lately. We got 9 in on Saturday before the rain. I was -1. I am still getting accustom to my new irons (Callaway Apex Pro) I am just not comfortable in my alignment with them.

If you are greenside and further up to about 20 yards:

-set your weight forward
-keep your lower body relatively quiet
-short backswing and be aggressive.

Try to keep the club moving forward at the same speed and regulate the length of your shot by the length of the backswing.

Whenever I get a new set, I'm going to go 3-9 irons, and order the PW separately--probably get a 45 degree wedge--to try and eliminate this problem. The ball seems to "trampoline" too much with a muscle backed wedge/iron.
