Nice. This is what the next step is in terms of our Player Development. We could have stashed Patric Young there instead of sending him overseas. Having our own DLeague team allows us a very good tool for scouting and evaluating non drafted players

As I understand it, the NBA has told all 32 of their teams by the end of next year they all have to have a D-League team.
Interesting, I hadn't heard that before. That actually seems kind of fast for the DLeague to add 12 more teams. Also, if he wants to be the Pels affiliate the team can't be called the Mavericks, not up there in Cowboy country.

Right now DLeaguers make $20k-$40k per year. Unless you just can't handle Europe like Pierre Jackson, it's usually worth leaving. I think the league will eventually change this, but I suspect they'll try and make it part of the next CBA negotiations to try and put some of the cost on the players.

The Shreveport/Bossier Mavericks are the ABA Champions. Might they be brought over as a D-League?

I think Biloxi could of been a good place to have the team
Unless you cant have it in a different state, plus its closer from New Orleans

Yeah it's smarter for the players (at least money wise) to play in Europe, but for teams I think this is better. We had to give up rights to Young for him to go over there. We could have just stashed him over here and still had the ability to call him up in the event of injuries or if he starts ballin out without having to buyout a contract.

Interesting point. Is the NBA looking to make the Euro League obsolete? If so they will need to do what your saying and up the pay for those players. But that will probably take a TV deal, which is possible.
I think the biggest advantage of growing the D league is how it will expand the fandom of the game to cities that don't usually experience it (albeit a much lesser product). Same thing as MLB and their system. Really helps to build a fan base outside of that teams geography.

Our minor league baseball just started up this year
A d-league bball team playing in the coliseum on the beach would be the shite

Yeah that could help but imo their never gonna get a big enough audience on YouTube. Besides, you gonna want to pay extra to watch that? Haha

As far as playing up here in Shreveport/Bossier, they need to leave that shithole Hirsh Coliseum and relocate to the Century Link Center in Bossier.

Im sure they would. Also if all teams have a D-league squad, and they dont have to share, I think it would be cool to go watch your developmental players play every now and then. Especially if the seasons were staggered with the NBA.

They already have the name when they relocated from Beaumont and their owner ownes MAVERICK OIL.
Shreveport has had the Captains (not Rangers) the Battle Wings (not Cowboys) and the freaking Mudbugs hockey team. Stop with this dumb shite.
