quote:You thought the light sabre fights in the originals was more realistic? Why? It's a beam of light. It should have no weight whatsoever. The OT fights were choreographed as if they were steel swords with slower and more deliberate movements. The prequels were actually far more realistic considering what they characters were dealing with.
The lightsaber battles in the prequels are indisputably completely unrealistic soulless, video game inspired and overly choreographed.
And bear in mind, I think the prequels are some of the shittiest films ever made, all things considered.

wow, just wow is this a serious response Capt Literal? It should go with out saying there is a certain degree of suspension of belief in any fantasy/Sci Fi type movie/TV show/Book etc. That doesn't mean the audience will or should just throw everything out and accept what ever the writer(s) throw out there. There has to be a degree of verisimilitude or plausibility for the story to work. To that end there are some important items and some that are irrelevant. That there is no sound in outerspace, but we hear this wicked sound from Tie-Fighers or explosions in space doesn't affect the narrative as one example.
The LS is a stand in for a sword, just as blasters are for guns, Star Destroyers for Naval shisp, X-wings and Tie-Fighers for planes etc, etc. Are you arguing the weight of the LS enables the combatants to fly around and do back slips and all kinds of movements only seen in a Cirque Du Soleil? That never even crossed my mind. The weight of the LS is of no importance.

In Empire we met Yoda, an 800-900 year old creature hobbling around with a staff. We also met the Emperor. In Jedi we see him walking slowly, like an old man, yet we are to believe 20 years earlier these 2 engaged in this battle where Yoda flips around and wields the LS with super speeds. It looks like, well a CGI video game fight, not remotely realistic at all given the characters.

Have to say as shitry as AOTC was when Yoda whipped out the light Saber it was bad freaking arse.

But I wasn't even talking about the jumping around part. Since the LS's are basically just flashlights in which the beam is a cutting laser with no weight, the blows would be lightning quick. If anything, the prequel fights weren't fast enough.

Maybe the shittiest part of AotC

He's right. The lightaber fights in the prequels were boring
The choreography was so flawless and the characters had nothing going on between them
In the OT, there's a lot going on between the characters and the fights are really more about the motivation and depth of character. There's nothing to remember about the fights from the prequels, while the OT had so many memorable moments that really underscore the point he's making
1. Obi wan sacrificing himself
2. I am your father
3. Luke committing suicide rather than becoming evil
4. Luke channeling his emotions and temporarily losing himself then seeing his hand (he's just beating on vader in this segment, the emperor's point is made)
5. Vader's redemption
What do I remember about the prequels?
1. A lot of flipping
I'm not even sure what anakin' motivation during his final battle with obi wan is supposed to be.
Nothing between maul, obi wan and qui gon, nothing between anakin, obi wan and dooku, nothing going on between dooku and yoda (lazily we find out seconds before the fight that dooku was yoda's "Padawan" which is the gayest word ever)
Nothing in any of the fights really. Yoda and palpatine? Yawn. They spent 2 movies sitting around with each other and they probably should've reminded us, because I forgot by that point and it was if they were meeting for the first time
Obi wan and anakin? Obi wan has some real motivation, but not anakin. Why is he pissed at obi wan? Last they saw of each other they were super cool.

highly debatable. Technically more sophisticated? Yes
Soulless, boring, no grit, no motivation of characters, nothing.
cloud city is easily the best. Luke starts out confident but then it's pretty obvious that vader is holding back and Luke realizes he's out matched and cornered. When vader just starts pelting him with shite, Luke looks crushed because he realizes yoda and obi wan were right. He isn't ready.
Luke's even talking a little shite to start and by the end when vader stops fricking around he has Luke ready to kill himself. Not to mention the greatest spoiler in the history of spoilers.
Now beyond technical choreography, what's impressive about the prequel fights?
Also, they don't look better because everything is fricking digital in clones and sith. Everything looks fake and restricted. Matte paintings in the wizard of oz are better than that shite.

Naboo was such a cock tease. It's a planet I was dying to see, but never did
PM is chock full of good ideas lacking focus. The next two are just fricking digital crap doing anything to remind you of the originals. Why? Because the originals were so much better.

Hi little troll man.
You continue to have the absolute worst taste in movies and anything in general of anyone I know of.

We don't care about that fight outside of the fact we want to see the injuries that made vader in the originals (again because they're superior in every way) need to wear a robot suit
That and because of the "unimpressive" fight between them in the OT.
The only times that the prequels hold our interest is because we like the OT. On their own, they're nothing. The only reason people talk about them now is the "what could have been" factor
The prequels are the epitome of disappointing

The jedi in the movies beyond qui gon and obi wan look so silly deflecting shite. Like CL there they don't know what they're looking at or fighting so they just awkwardly move around and they animated around that.

Agree to disagree. Beyond technical choreography (which is a super negative that highlights that the characters have nothing going on between them) I think they look like shite
Sets, it's all about the sets. Empire carbon room and jedi throne room are two of the best sets in the movies. I mean just look at the picture of jedi I posted
Looks a million times better in my opinion even if I wipe the characters clean.
