I haven't seen anyone else mentioning this, so I figured I'd put it here to pass the info along. I can see this pushing him to the second half of round 2 to even the 3rd round.

That's a big drop for a guy some projected to go mid 1st round. It's not a knee.

there was a temporary blip of a few mockers putting him in mid first, but I think the prevailing thought is late first to high second. a broken wrist that may require surgery is not something to be taken lightly though. how many people keep saying don't draft a guy in the first 2 rounds that can't produce now? this may be a case of someone who won't produce for a while, and it could hinder his development until year two. I don't see many teams taking that risk on someone who isn't a superstar prospect to begin with.

It happened during the season and he played with it for like 5 weeks. It's nothing new, and won't hurt his stock too much if at all. If anything I hope it knocks him down to 31.

it's new to us though. while the teams most likely knew of this, the reporters out there are just finding it out. they have been the ones touting him as late 1st to high second, and it will be interesting to see if they start dropping him now as a result.

I mean if it wasn't serious enough that he could still play through it, and well I might add, I don't think it'll dropped him much. Plus IF he needs surgery it'll be minor, maybe keep him sidelined a month or two. He'll be ready to go come training camp for whatever team drafts him.

While all true, it does affect the mock draft status. These rankings are not necessarily where the teams have player s slotted, it's where the "experts' are predicting they go. If he has an injury that requires surgery, most teams will have him rated lower unless they are able to see how he'd perform after the surgery. If the "experts" are just realizing this and did not take that into consideration in their own rankings; it's not hard to believe he could have a full round drop.
In other words, I don't think it's far fetched to think he will be drafted somewhere in the late 2nd, early 3rd.

It's a minor wrist injury like I said IF he has surgery it'll be a minor fix and he probably won't miss any serious training time or have adverse side effects.
If it was a knee or foot problem then I could understand that sentiment.
The dude played through it and still had 30 catches, 400+ yards and 3 TDs in those 5 games. I think he'll be fine.

Dude it's just a broken wrist.. Won't drop him at all

Very minor it's only one of his his carpals . That's going to be a very quick rehab/period of recovery.

you said what I was trying to say but much more effectively. while the electronic media writers are out here raising him up into the mid-late first round, that does not mean teams have him that high. this isn't a superstar player we are talking about. he is in a crowded field of WRs that are all sitting in that 2nd round grade. any little mishap can effect where he is drafted.
while the wrist injury is being reported by him as minor, that does not mean teams won't/haven't taken notice of it. if it requires surgery, then it is something that will limit him for a while. and it is a wrist, which means it effects his catchhing ability. sure it isn't as serious as a knee or leg; that would cause a serious drop. a wrist still is important to a WR, and it can cause a small drop.

He has claimed that this report is bullshite and he broke it in the middle of the season and played 5 games with it. No surgery needed
quote:
Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong is disputing a report that he may need wrist surgery. Strong calls NFL Network's report "old news," and says he's "fine." Strong admits he suffered a fractured bone in his wrist last November, and "played five games with it." NFL Network had a report last year that Tre Mason needed surgery. He didn't have it and went on to become the Rams' starting tailback as a rookie.

it could all be one of the many untruths sent out by teams hoping he drops to them. still worth noting though

thought this was a gay thread

minor wrist injury
I get what you are saying, but minor injuries do not require surgery. That just elevated the injury.
And, I think you are overlooking what is being said. I am not saying he won't be as good, just that the media could have been overvaluing him bc they did not know he was set to have surgery; where as, the teams may have him rated lower bc of the surgery. At this point, it is all speculation bc we are not privy to the 32 draft boards.

Which is why he is not having surgery

I thought the option for surgery was still in the air, my mistake. If his quote is true and he won't need surgery, then it would be assumed that he is already healed and would be ready to go for camp. I didn't research it much, but I thought I saw a few sources saying he will (or did) have surgery.
Either way, it still stands that we do not know where teams rated him anyway, so we do not know if this news will truly drop him or have no effect.

He is saying he doesn't need surgery. Reports differ from this. We will find out the truth at some point.

Sounds like a pats kinda pick.

We don't know how to develop Recievers above 6 foot tall
Of course we never draft them higher than the 3rd either way
