I'm going to see Dylan this Sunday, and this is the likely set list:
Things Have Changed
She Belongs To Me
Beyond Here Lies Nothin'
Workingman's Blues #2
Duquesne Whistle
Waiting For You
Pay In Blood
Tangled Up In Blue
Love Sick
High Water (For Charley Patton)
Simple Twist Of Fate
Early Roman Kings
Forgetful Heart
Spirit On The Water
Scarlet Town
Soon After Midnight
Long And Wasted Years
Blowin' In The Wind
Stay With Me

Thoughts, opinions, comments?

Download all those songs in that order from the studio recordings

Install ear buds when Bob hits the stage

Listen to recordings while he plays

They will all sound the same. They will have no identifiable melody. You would not know the difference if any one of us were up there.

Yeah, I'm prepared for that. But I'm also hoping for some surprises--a new, listenable arrangement or two … some great music from his backup band … and most of all, an appearance by Roger McGuinn, who lives in Orlando. Maybe we get a nice version of My Back Pages or something from the two of them.

Has got a 12 string guitar, it's like nothing I've ever heard.

Byrds are my all-time favorite band. I've got two 12-strings in my collection on account of that McGuinn sound you referred to, plus the other guitarist in our band has a Ricken-12. Can't say we sound as good as he does, but the 12-string guitar is a gift from God--or at least, McGuinn makes it sound like that.

Hes in Montgomery tonight with tickets still available. Not a fan but respect the icon. Waffling, probably not going.

This is all true. I've seen Dylan a few times and the songs are really unidentifiable. It was even worse when he was playing festival setups. And I love Dylan.

That Montgomery show sold out yesterday I believe. I'll be there.

It's virtually the exact same setlist he had when he toured with Wilco/MMJ two years ago minus watchtower and with a song or two I don't recognize.

No, but I see clips on youtube, so I'll check it out. He's the one guy I wish had stayed with the band longer, on account of his superb songwriting skills. He was in my opinion an overlooked or underrated writer of rock music.

Check out Clark's biography if you haven't done so (Mr. Tambourine Man by John Einarson). Great read.

I thought last night was really good. Voice sounded as good possible, he was energetic on stage. If you are going expecting a setlist different from the one posted above, don't bother. That's it. Much better than the same show I saw two years ago.

Honestly glad I didn't go up for last night. If Bob can't be bothered to throw in a couple different songs at all, ever, on his set list I got no desire to see him go through the motions. Glad you enjoyed the show.
