Just picked up 9 week old wire haired pointing griffon this weekend. Pup looks great and is getting along well with the labs. He's going to the trainers at the end of July. If I can teach him the basics and not screw him up before then, there could be a productive Kansas/ SD trip in November.

One of my best friends has a griffon. Great dog. Very impressive in the field.

Nice dog. What's his name? Got any pics?

Dogs name is Murphy. I wanted a closer working dog as I'm not as spry as I used to be. I'm not very computer savvy regarding pictures/ photobucket etc. I will try to take some better pics and ask kids how to add them.

Where you sending him?
Also, what exactly is the difference between a wire haired pointing griffon and a German Wirehaired Pointer?

I'm sending him to Rocky Homesley, a long time dog trainer in Cherryville NC. The German Wire Hairs are said to be bigger ranging dogs with a bit more octane. They are similar dogs and the breeder probably makes more difference than the breeds. I got him from a breeder in Axson Ga, Plum Creek Griffons.

From what I've read, they seem a little more lethargic than the GWP/DD's, but I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm excited this board is getting ugly dogs, love reading about them. Congrats

My buddy lived in Idaho and hunted upland game out there. They have to have a dog that works close there because the terrain is so steep. It's pretty much the standard upland game dog in that part of the country, I believe.

2 year bump
Came across your post while looking for reviews of Plum Creek Griffons, I cannot seem to get a reply from him.
How is your dog doing and what are you hunting with him?
