Y'all really don't think Laird or Stevenson can muster enough contract to play similar roles? C"mon
How have things been working out for Jared Mitchell? And he was a 1st round draft pick with much more natural ability than either Laird of Stevenson

Jared mitchell has problems with strikeouts. Still, he has been relatively successful. He'll have a cup of coffee at some point.

Just dumb, more ability based on what? Each situation is different and baseball all comes down to one definitive statement all things being equal when speaking of a position player. And it's whether or not he can hit a curve ball. All else is moot without that one thing being accounted for.

Laird doesn't have the arm to make the bigs, I doubt either make it but AS probably has the better shot, albeit small.

I hope Laird and Stevie emulate and stay for A 4th year; It was awesome having Katz his senior year and his stock improved by staying.

Jared Mitchell is closer to a 5 tool player bra. I would say he has more upside then both Stevenson and Laird

I don't think laird and Stevenson are .350 MLB hitters.
I do think they are talented enough to hit 250 tho. And with their speed can make them useful
Laird's biggest issue will be his huge tendency to slap everything oppo. The third base bleachers might as well seek cover when he is up because he will litter the bleachers will fouls. He'll finally turn enough on one and slap it into left. Can he do that against pro pitching? It's tough to make a living with a weak arm and a singular batting approach.
Stevenson definitely has the best shot at going somewhere. He will hopefully gain a little more power as he fills out. He has a decent arm, so that shouldn't hinder him too much. He also hits it everywhere, and that's huge.

I think the comparison to make is to Mikie mahtook he had decent power numbers he isn't as fast as Laird and Stevie but he made good plays in the out field.
I think Mikie is our one of two recent player who plays in the MLB out of position players. DJ also plays, and Aaron Hill but he was here a long time ago. It's hard to get to the MLB LSU has about 6 guys in the pros right now. Laird and Stevie will get drafted but they probably have a low chance to go pro.
Keep in mind many times other players will have the same skill set as Laird and Stevie, it comes down to development and actually money. If two similar players are drafted, one in the 8th round and the other in the 22nd many times a club will cut the guy who got drafted lower even if he was playing better than the guy in the 8th round. Simply because they had more money tied up in him.

I wish them the best but having players in the program 4 and 5 years is just better for LSU not necessarily for the player.

Depends on where they get drafted
Problem is all the seniors go in that 4th to 10th round range and are easy signs.
Stevenson and Laird probably will fall after that and depending on how much bonus pool money is left will determine if they decide to leave.
I don't think either of them project well to MLB.

I think he leaves. He loses all of his leverage if he stays. I'd say Stevenson goes also.
Stevenson is rated as a much higher prospect at this time(Top four rounds). Laird was rated as a top 15 round guy earlier in the season. I think both are leaning toward going but maybe there's some room for doubt with Laird.

Stevenson has easily the weakest arm on the team. Probably the weakest arm of any center fielder I've ever seen at LSU. Laird has an awkward motion but average enough arm to play LF in the majors. And by the way... Lefthanded hitters that are very fast are very much incouraged to hit opposite field as much as possible. Too much opposite field for a fast left hander is perfect! I think that's a ridiculous statement. Thats baseball 101!! Those two are damn near the exact same speed. Although I do think Stevenson is the best LSU's had at tracking and reading the ball off the bat, Laird is not far behind. Laird is much more patient and selective at the plate and can be molded into a lead off guy (especially because he goes oppo more!!). Stevenson has more potential for power though. But he tends to be a free swinger and doesn't go deep in the count. They both have enough skill to develop. I think it's a long shot for both to make the majors because of their deficiencies but with the right organization and opportunties they have a chance.

What is the exact opposite of the truth for 800

Laird is a grad for sure, Stevenson too.

Anyone that says that anyone on the baseball team "has more "athletic ability" than Mark Laird is showing ignorance on the subject. If anything, Mark is a tremendous athlete, no one on the team is more athletic. I believe he could have acheived the same level of accomplishment on the football team.

Mickie Mahtook is an awful comp, he has probably 45 power, laird and Stevenson have 30.
I'll post more in a bit but defensive speedsters can make it to the pros, problem is neither show a great track record for SB and have weak arms.
