Freetown neighborhood of Lafayette.

That's a really bad idea, unless your "friend" is a little more on the "gangsta" side.......

I guess I'm thinking of the area in general. I haven't been there in years, so maybe things have changed. I would still not recommend living there...The surrounding areas are the issue..........

I mean if I were a parent, I wouldn't want my daughter living there for sure but for the most part, it's not bad. A lot of cool stuff in walking distance.

I'm trying to find it on KATC. Pretty sure it was at those sketchy looking appartments on the corner of Lamar/Cleveland.

I lived there for 3 and a half years. I loved it so much. The only reason we moved is because we found the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood. I miss that neighborhood though. It's got a perfect location to festivals, parades, etc.

We always felt safe. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic where I lived but it was never scary.

All you bastards who are saying it isn't safe and they would never let their daughter live there haven't experienced the neighborhood recently.

We never had a break in, never had any packages on our door step go missing, and never felt uneasy. We would still be living there if we hadn't bought a house.

I tried saying this earlier. It's not dangerous at all.

Death will surely be the outcome if your friend moves to Freetown.

Incase it was misinterpretted I didn't mean the place was unsafe, asside from cars being broken into because they were unlocked that's the only issues, never once felt unsafe. That same stuff goes on in subdivisions everywhere, personally I like the area. There's an old man across the street that'll sit on his porch and play an acordian when the weather is nice and occasionally another neighbor has a backyard fiddle jam session.

It's a lot like the Flower Streets area in BR, only bigger and less Asians.

That's cool.

Unless it interferes with my Barry White music while making sexy time, then not cool at all.

Had a friend that lived in that area. Had the antenna stolen from their vehicle twice (dafuq?), and another buddy had his bike stolen off the porch 10 minutes after he had just rolled up. I would park in a way that I could see my truck from the window, and just posted up like Russell Crowe the entire time I was there.

It actually is pretty damn cool, probably my favorite part of where she lives actually. It's not very often but it's a welcomed treat. Never loud/intrusive, pretty cool to hang out on the back patio, fire up the grill and have a few beers and just listen.

I lived in Freetown for 5 years up until recently.

The crime was pretty terrible. A kid who lived down the street was murdered. I saw the tail end of what looked like a guy getting mugged. Cars were broken into multiple times. Homeless dudes wandering the streets after dark. Too many more stories to list. Would not recommend.
