All I have to say is that if you:
-knew it was a holiday weekend
-knew it was raining
-STILL willingly travelled I-10 Eastbound out of Lafayette expecting that the frickup fairy wasn't going to visit that stretch of road before you hit Baton Rouge

I drove past this about an hour ago...basically the whole bridge eastbound was a standstill.
