BMW gives away car in "reverse" April Fools joke

SIAP, I searched.
A dealership in New Zealand put an ad in the paper claiming that the first person to come in and "ask for Tom" would be able to swap their old car for a new BMW. Tiaana Marsh did just that, and ... you can guess what happened from there.

That's pretty cool. I wonder how many companies do something similar.

Damn that is awesome. A ton of people in New Zealand are kicking themselves right now for not doing that.

Before every exam I ever took in College, the professor would always ask "Are there any questions?"
I'd always ask "Can I use my textbook?" or sometimes "Can we work in groups?" Why? Because you never know.
The textbook thing worked several times. I kept all my notes in my books. The group thing worked once.
Had Paul Britt for Calc I and II. By the end of II, he started every test with "No Mr. Prez, you can't work in groups."
You never know what you'll get if you ask.

That's pretty awesome. Good on them. BMW is a good company.

Those women definitely didn't wait around to check out the offer. Looks like they were the first customers of the day.
Also, this dealership is in Auckland, New Zealand. This lady got a free BMW for April Fools around 1PM CST on 3/31/15.

I've had mine for 9 and I just started having to put money into it. I would probably look to trade up, but the new house and all that comes with it has seriously constrained the budget.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised to read a follow up story in a year where she had to sell the car to pay the taxes on the gift.

We did that too, it was always funny to see people's reactions when the prof would say "sure, use anything you want."
