Jordan could average 50 and zo isn't wrong, he just didn't say how much he'd have to shoot to get it.

This thread is full of fail.
I will listen to the Alonzo Mourning who played 4 years at Georgetown, graduated, and not only just played 15 seasons in the NBA (over half when Jordan was active) but won two defensive player of the year awards rather than all of these posters on an online sports message board

12th Final Four appearance for Coach K. Been a head basketball coach for 40 years and has made the NCAAT 31 times.. So he's made the Final Four in 30% of his seasons coached. Making the Final Four 3 times every decade, meh.. The longevity of his career is more impressive than anything.

Do you also take everything Barkley, Shaq, or Dennis Rodman says as gospel?
What about when two former players completely disagree? Who's right?
What if Mourning says Jordan would score 50 and David Robinson says Jordan would score 25? Who is right?
Just because someone was good at playing the game because they had the physical ability doesn't mean they can analyze the game better than others who weren't as good at playing the game.
A lot of great coaches were not good players. Gregg Popovich never played in the NBA, and is one of the greatest coaches. Michael Jordan is probably the greatest player, and he's a terrible GM. He's not a good judge of talent. So go figure.

The best ever regardless of era
Regardless of whether you like the way today's game is played, there is no denying that bigger, faster, stronger athletes are playing today. Outside of Dominique and Drexler, Jordan really didn't have that much competition at his position. Not to say there weren't great teams.
If Kobe couldn't even sniff averaging 40 during the mid '00's, Jordan wouldn't average 50.

You're right.. Who knows how many current or former NBA players, coaches and GMs we have posting here in this thread.

Popovich has played 0 minutes in the NBA, but he knows a whole lot about it.

I'm sure you know much more about the NBA, the game of basketball and how to play defense than Alonzo Mourning.
And besides, basketball knowledge =\= basketball skills. MJ is a prime example of this as he is a poor executive.

quote:So MJ would score as many points as LBJ and Anthony Davis combined--the 3rd and 4th leading scorers in the NBA? That's illogical. Surprising from Zo; obviously expected from you.

He isn't smarter than Mourning when it comes to on the court technique... like the finer points of playing down low. But that doesn't mean he can analyze the game effectively.
In other words, he could be the big man coach of a team to teach players technique, but he's probably not the guy who can invent a new offense.

No, what is foolish is to blindly accept the word of someone who played carte blanche when objective evaluation indicates he is likely in error.
