Why do we suck at growing grass and keeping it from dying every single year?

Directly correlated to you still being alive. If you die, the grass lives. Be a team player and do the right thing, buddy.
But more seriously, it probably has to do with the shade it gets from the grandstands and the the frequent infield play.
Edit: The shadow is why they went with the artificial turf in foul territory.

Tiger Stadium should've been Field Turf'ed years ago. Field looks like shite after game 1 warmups

1. It's March, cold weather doesn't grow plants well
2. You have any idea how much a beating the infield takes from one game? Let's add practice to that.

Dude ,since 2011, tiger stadium turf looks better than most spend turf. Out of All the things we can biych about, the then in TS isn't one of them

Arkansas (a similar, if not colder climate than LSU) has a beautiful infield. And they also practice and play on it.
The cold weather isn't it. Our outfield looks great. Had to be the amount of sunlight it gets and certain parts of the day.
