I understand gator to be meat, frog to be fish. Is that your understanding? TIA
For Lenten purposes anything that spends most of its time in the water is considered a fish (iirc). This means gators, frogs and turtles are all okay to eat on Fridays during Lent.
Eating the cast of Swamp People still counts as cannibalism though. ;)

As far as abstaining from meat for Fridays during Lent goes, warm-blooded animals (birds and mammals) are considered meat. All other animals (fish, reptiles, amphibians, insects, crustaceans, etc...) are not considered meat.

1. They can't fly.
2. They eat a lot of fish which makes them very holy. They abstain from meat year round.

So is the meat | fish line based on blood temperature or how an animal spends its day?
