There's got to be more to the story. But if it's true, how was this done?

Maybe they are secretly trying to ruin the black fraternities by slowly destroying their futures.

I am pretty sure most black frat have a different IFC that governs them.

Dailycaller, huh? I'm going to hang my nuts out there and say that there is more to this than your totally reliable news source is letting on.

Why was participation in a different governance structure enough to spare the black fraternities from NCSU’s collective punishment? Brad Bohlander, the university’s chief communications officer, told the The Daily Caller News Foundation that the alcohol ban was IFC’s idea in the first place.
“The university agreed to support and partner with the IFC on the temporary cessation of social activities including alcohol for IFC fraternities as a positive step toward working with the Greek community on efforts to put in place measures to better address and elevate expectations for high standards of behavior,” said Bohlander.

The direct reason for the ban is that the new restriction on alcohol only applies to fraternities that are associated with the school’s Interfraternity Council (IFC). The vast majority are, but five historically black organizations are an exception, instead being separately organized under the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

At LSU, the black fraternities have off-campus houses, so LSU can't say shite. They used to haze openly in the Quad.

I wasn't doubting the validity of story--just its lack of treatment of the racial issue. The NYT story suggests that the HB Frats aren't a part of the interfraternity council (or whatever it's called at NC State) that was banned.

i got you ... i didn't click on his link... didn't know it was misleading...

The real story here is that NC State, and most universities across the country, refuses to even acknowledge the existence and validity of historically black fraternities.
