Point of thread is that TQ showed great improvement from Freshman -> Sophomore year. He believes that our other guards will also benefit. It's not hard to believe. Players have developed and improved under Jones.
Patterson would really be the only candidate for improvement. Hornsby is going to be a 5th year Senior; Gray will be a Senior. Certainly everyone can improve in life, but I think at this point Hornsby and Gray kind of are what they are as college players.

But anyway, I'm excited for the gaurd play that is coming up this season. If Malone Roberston Bridgewater Simmons and MM (one of them come back) and Epps show growth we have a serious SQAUD next year! If only we can find a center...
You just named two centers. And Jones likes to play 2 forwards and 3 guards. I don't know if he can handle a 7-foot center.
Clearly hes saying hes excited about guard play, so now if only we can get some good front-court minutes as well, we'll be a good squad.

I hope Patterson can reign in his 3pt shot selection like Stringer did after his sophomore season. I would also like to see him work on his mid range shot.

No one is mentioning it, but it's worth noting that Mickey and Martin both improved substantially after just one off-season
Seems like Jones at least has the ability to properly develop talent

What a load of shite. Rick Barnes got most of his team back this season, and you could argue none of his team full of quality players improved
so Jones gets zero credit for the players' improvement, but he gets all the blame if their numbers stay stagnant? Got it.

You're speaking to the same guy who wont give any credit to jones for wins but it's think it's jjs fault for every loss

I have no problem with criticizing Jones, but give credit where it is due (especially the two in bold).

Under Jones JOB, Mickey, and Martin got plenty of court time and plenty of latitude for improvement. Jones is a great coach if you are a sure fire starter or a one and done.

This is correct.

robinson is the biggest ?
i'm not sure we have a coach with a true post background. johnny o'bryant did well to improve from soph to jr under jones and it was the same staff just musselmann in for mccray, though JOB did get a year with kirby. he's got skills and his body is clearly adapting well, so hopefully he's a contributor next year. still kind of baffling that he started a few games and then completely disappeared though i think he was hurt at one point.

Simmons can also dribble up and down the court.
I think he'll be our primary ball handler in key situations.
Looking forward to having an iso player with the ball when we go dry like this year. Should easily be an improvement there.

Gray changed a lot this year as a player IMO. He turned from someone who was often a liability to playing under control and playing smarter. I think another offseason could help him a lot in that role

I was a fan of playing Malone more as he did, but I have no idea why Elbert's minutes went to zilch. But that is the aggravation with Jones. Hardly anyone got off the bench.

yea we just needed depth in the worst way. thought epps deserved some minutes and bridgewater obviously proved he could provide something in spurts
Posted on 3/23/15 at 8:44 pm to mmcgrath
2 years ago we had an 8 man rotation before Malik went down. What makes you think he doesn't use the bench when we have depth ?
