Supposedly someone from Cliff Alexander's camp asked for money. Izzo was offended and obviously refused. Next recruiting update Kansas was the leader and Michigan State wasn't named. No coincidence. I'm sure someone else could tell it better than me though.

He has been good at finding 5*s with little egos then.

In terms of in-game coaching, I'd say absolutely.
But there's more to coaching than doing it in-game, so I would say no.
However, he's a top four coach in college basketball.
Krzyzewski
Calipari

Izzo
I think Donovan at Florida could be thrown in that group, as well. Those are the top five, in whatever order.

No.
Cal > Izzo
Edit: Cal has beaten a higher seed 6x and only lost to a lower seed once (#2 West Virginia). Izzo has now beaten a higher seed 8x but has 7 losses to lower seeds.

Is Izzo the best basketball coach in the college game today?

There's no way Calipari has only lost to a lower seed one time. I know 2009 Memphis got bitchslapped by Missouri in the Sweet 16 and I think Memphis was the 2 seed.
Obviously you're not counting his loss to #8 seed Robert Morris in the NIT.

Well, 4 of them alone were last year.

He's a great coach, but the so called best coach hasn't won a title in 15 years.

Izzo is the Joe Gibbs of college basketball. Nobody does more with less year in and year out. I just wish he recruited better. The only team he's ever had with significant talent was his 2001 team with Jason Richardson, Zach Randolph and Charlie Bell.

How old are you?
Cal lost three times EACH to lower seeds at UMass and Memphis.
So, 6 times total. Plus now once at Kentucky.
Nice try.

i think he is my favorite coach, i love how he has built that program. they aren't kentucky or duke or carolina but they are in the tournament every year and always a tough out.
he gets guys to come in and buy in, they stay 3-5 years and gel into a team. i was hoping that 05/06 LSU team could pull a flintstones

That team was stacked.
Between Duke, Maryland, Michigan State, and Arizona, that was one of the most talented Final Fours ever.
