haha. If you ask anyone outside of Louisiana who the University of Louisiana is they are either going to think LSU or the school from The Waterboy.
Idiot: 'nationwide' is not based on name recognition. If it was, 99% of the schools listed as such wouldn't qualify. Hate it or not, UL is a 'nation wide' uni.

True and so is UL-L.
NO....IT IS NOT: for the umpteenth time, UL & LTU are designated as 'sate wide'.....all others, including ULM are designated as 'regional.'
Board of Regents

If anything ltu should be the flagship of the UL system. It is atleast a Tier1 school, it is older than UL-L, and is in a more respected athletic conference.
That one is too ignorant to even warrant a response.

Supposedly the author of this article has been fired.
I would expect he did. I'm sure he got a lot of ULL students butt hurt.

None of this will matter when most of these school are cut back to the bone. Either they will become online colleges or 2-year universities.

C'mon coachCRAPPY, even you wouldn't believe that there is a chance in hell that either of those things would happen to either ltu or UL? If anything, they will benefit when the other schools implode.

Compromise: change Tulane back to The University of Louisiana and ull back to the Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning, King of the Andals and the First Men, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, and Khalisee of the Khalasar of the Great Grass Sea. Everything would be right in the world.

It's a simple fact. The only tier 1 schools in the states are LSU, Tulane aaaaaaand your Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.... Now don't let you blood pressure rise too much chief, I know how upsetting this is.

If you really want to know, why don't you research it on US News & World Report?
US News & World Report refers to your school as the University of Louisiana -- Lafayette, BTW. Guess they didn't get the memo either.

This thread looks like fun.
There only needs to be one argument made here. The legislature mandates that any school using the University of Louisiana, must attach a geographical designation to their name. They made it specifically clear, except for the academically challenged at the Lafayette campus, that there was to be no singular University of Louisiana, or UL. It would always be coupled with a ggeographical designation.
Now, I'll hear all about how UL Lafayette uses UL Lafayette in academics and how athletics is totally different and how the university doesn't use UL when they clearly do. Blah blah blah.

I went to UL Lafayette. I call it UL around town because it's just easy that way. If I'm outside of the area I say I went to UL Lafayette.
I don't know why this rustles so many jimmies.
