They tried. Nobody noticed.
Early ULM baseball caps simply had the L logo from ULM.
Once they were forced to change from Indians to Warhawks, they abandoned the idea of emphasising Louisiana and marketed ULM. Early after the name change, the Cajuns weren't as bold about it in their athletic marketing. Once ULM abandoned those ideas, the Cajuns decided to push it more.

I wonder when the school is going to have enough funds to fix the letters on the gates coming into campus on St Mary from Johnston street. Someone thought it would be cute to pull the words "lafayette" out of the concrete but now its a trashy looking sign with holes in it

Actually, those are the names of the two gators in cypress lake. ....no kidding.

Why would anyone get "butt hurt" about that sign? It very plainly says "Lafayette", unlike your baseball team's red caps that have "Lafayette" in red and "Louisiana" in black.....
