Or know of someone who has? I'm contemplating it but I've got questions. For starters, who is the most affordable and does it really only last 10 years or so?

I got it. my only regret is that I didn't get it sooner.

That chick in that Final Destination sequel got killed by it, so there's that.

I was thinkn about it. I still will but a girl I know posed a question that made me question it.
She said how come those doctors never get the procedure themselves?

I had it done in '05 and been fine since. My eyes had also stayed the same for four years. I don't think it would be wise if every year you go to the eye doc your eyes are still getting progressively worse.

Dr. Williamson did mine. He wasn't the cheapest, but I wasn't looking for cheap when it came to my vision

Yes. In 2000. Still works 15 years later.

No, the correction of myopia is permanent. You will, however, still be subject to a declining ability to see things up close. That's just part of getting old. Buy a $5 pair of reading glasses.
For the record, I had my lasik done 15 years ago, and still have perfect vision.

Did it 4 years ago. Eye sight is still great. Worth it! It's your eyes, not something I'm looking for a large discount on.

People on OT have more questions about the value of Lasik than any other group of people in the world.

Not everyone is a good candidate. One of the doctors I went to told me to wait 3 years for the technology to improve (namely "corneal cross-linking", a treatment for a condition called ectasia which can happen if you do LASIK on weird-shaped corneas like mine).
Luckily I went to see Dr. Shah at Ochsner Baptist, probably one of the best eye doctors (if not THE best eye doctor) in the state. He's the only one in the state doing the corneal cross-linking trial as it is, so he had no reservations at all doing the surgery.
(Also, I had PRK, not traditional LASIK. Slightly different procedure with a longer recovery time but may be the only option depending on your corneas.)

Had it done last summer. Definitely do it, It's awawesome. You have to man up for about a minute that sucks and will make you question why anyone would ever do this to themselves but it's over really quick. take a nap a wake up and everything is great.
Since I had it done every once in a while my eyes will get tired ready sosomething small like my phone. Its not all the time and only if it's for a really long time, like a few hours a day

Why would you have to man up? You literally feel nothing. Your eyes are numbed and you take a valium

Yes. Best decision I ever made.

He did mine as well. No complaints. I was driving within two days or so.

I didn't feel the laser (you can smell it) but when they put the suction cup on your eyeball I swear they about popped it out. Maybe I was just too squeamish. But it was way more than the "light discomfort " they said. It was only about 10 seconds on each eye. I would definitely do it again
I don't think the valium did anything for me. They told me I was to calm beforehand that it may not have much of an effect

Yes. It's one of the safest surgeries known to man. And it's your eyes. Don't bargain shop. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
