I respect your opinion. I've really heard it all. I was just trying to give another point of view.

He blew a .307. This isn't having a couple beers and getting behind the wheel. He should be locked up for at least 20 years.

I guess so. I mean it worked for Ray Lewis

It isn't just Nathan. He ruined Danny's life, as well. 7.5yrs is way too soft, but I respect the Crowsons' mercy.

Has it ever been confirmed if the cyclist was under the influence at the time of the accident?

The wrbz article contains more info.

A six-person jury found Branch guilty of killing Nathan Crowson in the 2012 wreck. Prosecutors said Branch had a blood alcohol level of .307 after the wreck. The crash also injured Crowson's friend and fellow cyclist Danny Morris, who told the judge in a victim impact statement that he's in constant pain and suffered neurological damage after the wreck.
Erwin said Branch will also have to pay restitution to the victim's family: a $45,000 payment within the next 60 days will be split between the surviving victims and the deceased victim's 8-year-old daughter, and once out of prison he will also have to pay 25 percent of each paycheck to the victims up to a total of $250,000. He will also have an interlock device on his vehicle's ignition for the rest of his life.
Branch apologized in court Wednesday to the victims' families, promising them he would live a "good and honest life" once he gets out of jail. He said he would also work to make sure this doesn't happen again to anybody else.

7.5 years is a lot of time, actually more than I thought he would get.

My apologies for not mentioning Danny. I know his life is forever changed but I didn't forget him. He hasn't been lost in my prayers. Altho I am friends with Joey, I do think about the families and friends affected by what Joey did. All of this has impacted me a lot. I'm not sure about others but since this has happened I have not had a drink and driven because of the reality of what can happen. Joey blew 3x the limit. But do others not realize that we can have .09 and someone can run through a red light (at fault) and you could be locked up for negligent homicide? I think about these things and I've done my share in preventing myself from getting in a similar situation. I'm no saint but if I can learn from this, I hope others could as well.

They probably want him out so he can work to pay them from the civil suit.

How do you not get life for that?

but Crowson's family said they were Ok with him only serving a third of it. I wouldn't have been; that's for damn sure.
That's because you're not involved. The family agreed because they were tired of going to court and having to look that POS in the face.

How does that work? His sentencing was scheduled for today.

This is a sad case. I agree the sentence should have been longer, but the victims' families did agree.

They guy he hit was also High while riding a bike on a busy 4 lane road.
That may have had something to do with it. Not that I'm condoning drunk driving

This is what I was wondering. Has that been confirmed that the victim was under the influence?
