Great. PER does not lead to wins. Win shares does. So that settles that IMO.

settles what? you just said win shares was the best predictive value because 4 out of the last 5 mvps lead the league in it. the same could be said for per. i'm not arguing a side i'm just raising the level of discussion on this board by informing the uninformed

Kevin Garnett led the NBA in win shares in 04-05, and they won 44 games. They didnt even make the playoffs.

PER is not biased by the amount of games a person plays. We are looking at who the best basketball player is, not who played the most games. Is Brandan Knight now better than Paul George since he played more games?

Your argument is valid for MVP. We aren't talking about who the 2015 MVP is. We are talking about who is the best player in basketball. It is completely irrelevant that Westbrook and Lebron missed a chunk of games, yet Win Shares reflects that. Hence, a bias.

Also, I think you are confused about how the stat is calculated. They don't literally lead to win shares. The estimated wins added is a comparable stat using PER and minutes played. AD leads the league in that with Harden close behind despite having played in many more games.
