Malls aren't the hangout for kids today as they were back in the 80's and 90's. That's one knock against this sequel.

Shouldn't all the kids from mallrats be pushing 50 now? Smith should wait another 10 years and make them all retired.

It will be nostalgic, so I will watch.
The mall is the hangout for teens in BR. I have a teen. She and her friends love to hang out at the mall. My students love to hang out at the mall. When I am at the mall with my daughter or without her, I see many teens hanging out.
....but considering the decline in malls around the nation, maybe he can work that into the storyline.
