I'm trying to build my first computer. Can anyone with experience look my build over before I order my parts.

I changed to the same power except to the 750w version. It was about 15 dollars less on Amazon for some reason

I like it. I have a full tower though. Never did a mini.

Looks like that power supply is bigger than the case.
Posted on 3/15/15 at 9:27 am to Dr.Funke
what purpose are you building for?
The form factor is more typical for an HTPC, in which case this build is overkill. The GPU screams gaming rig, which can be done in a mini-ITX form factor, it's just a bit unusual. People tend to like the extra room in a full ATX setup for gaming rigs

Some gaming and a little video editing. I just would prefer a smaller cleaner looking case. I don't like the look of a big tower. This build is overkill for what I need now, but I want to make myself grow into it.
And to the person asking about the power supply from everything I've researched it will fit. I just didn't see a smaller one that was as highly rated and as cheap

Yes, plenty of us. I'm sure ILikeLSU will be along soon to critique your build.

Just check the depth. I bought a full size Fractal case that would not fit my Seasonic 1000 watt PSU.

the node 304 says it supports atx psu. I watched a few builds where other people managed to fit it
i originally had the 600w version of the same but for some reason it was about 15 dollars higher on amazon than the 750w so i just decided to go with it. i checked and the size said it was the same as the 600w, however i just checked again and the 750w is 20mm bigger. So now im back at the 600w version that just dropped about 25 dollars in price from last night.
I just ordered everything so well see how it goes. Ill be posting when I get it when I can't put it together im sure

Well, never mind

Looks good to me. I built a something very similar (smaller budget) for my first rig and I used the ITX Prodigy case. It's a tight fit but isn't that every guy's dream?
Really though, I'm glad I went small form factor. It was a challenging test of nerve for a beginner but I got through it without damaging any components.

No monitor, keyboard, mouse, DVD? Or do you already have that?
Posted on 3/15/15 at 1:06 pm to Meauxjeaux
I'll need a keyboard but have everything else
I also need an os. Has anyone used/heard of the microsoftsoftwareswap subreddit.
It seems legit, you can get Windows 8.1 for like 20 bucks

Seems like you could just go buy one for that amount.

On my phone so I won't dig around PCPartPicker for slightly better prices and whatnot. Honestly now that I'm reading the part list, I see no problems with it for the purposes you stated (otherwise, for a primarily gaming pc, I'd just tell you to drop down to an i5 and 8gb). I initially raised an eyebrow at the hyper 212 in a Micro atx build, but it will indeed fit in that fractal design case. Seems like you did your homework.
I'm sure you understand the slight premium you pay for small form factor, and the inherent limitations as far as airflow/overclocking, but otherwise there's nothing wrong with it.

Thanks, yeah I priced out with the standard it and 8gbs of ram and a 120gb ssd, but it was only about $230ish more for this build. My first criteria was smaller and simple looking. I don't plan on overclocking to begin with but I wanted that option. I don't want to waste money but the price isn't my biggest concern.
Peolpe seem to refer to you as the pc build God so thanks for looking over it

Yeah, once you hit the 1000W-ish threshold, you start to encounter PSUs that are in the 180mm+ length range, but lower than that it's generally 160mm. ATX size standards apparently don't constrain length too much. The way this Node case is set up, you can either have a PSU longer than 160mm, or a full-length graphics card. Kind of ironic that you'd be forced to use a half-length 150w video card with, say, a 1000W Seasonic.
Fortunately, PCPartPicker has become very intelligent about these things, especially with the more popular/common components. If the Node case is on your part list, it won't even show you PSU options that exceed 160mm, or if you have a longer PSU on your list, the Node won't be a case option (unless you turn off compatibility checks). And it's good about letting you know what dimension/clearance data site doesn't collect or can't find so you know to google it yourself.
