It is a phenomenal spiritual experience and I recommend it with enthusiasm. I have been going for about 15 years and have found it spiritually refreshing. The facilities are beautiful and the food is great, sure. But the silence and beautiful surroundings permit you a level of prayerfulness and reflection that is unmatched.

I've gone to Manresa for the better part of the past 10 years and have regretted those couple of times I didn't go. Do yourself a favor and go!!! I usually try to attend everything, but it's definitely not something you have to do.

I go over 4th of July weekend, but am looking to change. I brought my bike and rode about 18 miles on the levee just enjoying the quiet solitude of the river.

My paw-paw went for probably 30 years.

Know some guys who have gone. Seems kinda weird, but they said they got a lot out of it. I guess it's not much different than spending the weekend by yourself at the camp.

I've never done Manresa but I have attended an Acts retreat. Changed my life.

I've been going Easter week every year for the last 5 years. I was by all means skeptical the first time. I look forward to it every year....the best sleep, food and environment I get all year. I bring a Lob Wedge and about 4 golf balls and chip the grounds all week.

My dad goes every year and loves it. Not sure I could do it, but he says it's pretty great just getting away and clearing your head.

Didn't realize how many people on here actually did this. A neighbor recently suggested I attend one of these retreats in Amarillo. I brushed off the suggestion at the time, but now I may rethink it.

Went once. Everyone I tried to talk to was a real a-hole and didn't say too much.

I go and I love it. The food is awesome. The grounds are immaculate. The tranquility is truly relaxing. Go once, and if you get nothing out of it, then there is no need to go back. But, I went once...and I've never missed since my first retreat.

Go in the Winter, though. I heard the mosquitoes are crazy during the summer.

ETA: whoa, heck of a bump!

From what I hear its more of a social status thing than a religious experience. I'm sure some there are religious but it's fashionable among people with $ to say they do Manresa.

I go to The Lady of the Oaks in Grand Coteau. It is awesome! I enjoy the p&q and not talking. I am not familiar with the one you speak of, but I would do it.

I have never understood the attraction.

If I want to be alone, I'll go sit in a deer stand or on a boat somewhere.
