While this is the most drastic example of just how much people undervalued Davis' game, a very large portion of people had Davis pegged to be the next Marcus Camby.

Amazing how much he's proved them wrong

I can't even bash him. He's developed way more than I expected.

So you weren't buying that he was a once in a generation player?

I never expected his offensive game to come together so quickly. But he showed streaks of a very good jumper in high school. Kentucky has a tendency to restrict it's players to certain roles.

Now that said, him saying it's most likely that he'll be a role player looks just as stupid as it did in 2012.

Kaleb was obviously insane. Everyone had him as the clear cut number 1. They just didn't expect him to be an offensive savant. Coming out, he was a once a generation defensive force. That he is this good this quickly on offense is entirely unexpected by most rational observers.

I always thought he would at the very least have a respectable offensive game. But knowing how elite he'd be defensively was enough for me to know he'd be a star

Some of us were a step ahead on predicting his offensive capabilities.

Not only was his premise insane, that was written like it was for 8th grade English class.

He hasn't written an article on B/R since 2012 so I'd say no...

I was thinking about this the other day. I was thinking that i would have been happy if he turned into a Camby, maybe a Garnett type player.
He's without a doubt not a Camby, and he is quickly becoming much more than Garnett.

I did not expect him to be this smooth offensively, and you know he's going to get better. He's eventually going to start hitting threes with regularity. If he develops a part of his game that starts at the top of the key with the ability to hit the three, drive to the goal, or pull up at the free throw line, he will be unstoppable. I don't know who would be able to guard him outside of Lebron.

They needed to replace AD with Austin Rivers in the title.

I knew he was one of the best defensive players I've ever seen in College. He just didn't have much of an offensive game. It's hard to know how that part will develop. There have been plenty of tall lanky athletes like Stromile who didn't develop that part.
