~13% if IIRC, proposed cuts would drop it to around ~6%

Eta: Michigan comparision

So frick the other state universities and those students because LSU wants to have a building to make smoothies?

I'm an LSU fan too, but calm down.
nothing what he said coincides with the shite you just spilled.

do you really think the state the size of LA needs the 16 Universities it has?

It's purely an optics play showing that the Athletic Department and Athletic Foundation are behind President Alexander's efforts to protect LSU

And it's a smart move. LSU is "circling the wagons," so to speak. Few, if any, things in this state draw public attention and reaction like LSU athletics.

Most flagships throughout the country are going to end up being 100% privately funded in the next 10-15 years...just the direction we're heading.

States will support the regionals and 2-year system.

Yep. For once it seems like LSU is coming together from all fronts. I've been quite impressed with Dr. Alexander's ability to do this in less than 2 years.

no our roads are the worst in the nation because our state is on top of one of the largest deltas in the world.

I believe it. Dr. Alexander is the man. I love his "we're stronger when we work together" approach.

He's a very likable man. This fall, he walked throughout tailgates welcoming Alabama fans to our campus. I thought that was cool

However, I can't confirm if he did a keg stand

They really need to cut several of the state universities or combine them with each other by region.

This is exactly what should be done, but it'll never happen.

It is beyond embarrassing how poorly the state flagship university is funded, and every year the budget cuts get worse and worse.

thanks, I would have thought it would be much higher. If LSU is at 13% or that neighborhood, I would think they could easily sustain a tuition hike and operate with basically no state contribution.

Going from 13% to 6% amounts to a 20-25% tuition increase, IIRC.

Damn dude, you've swallowed the line, sinker and all.

Lighten up, we neither have to live down some dirt road with our water polluted by our neighbor's shite, nor do we have to live at the mercy of the feds.

It's never as bad as people paint it, and it's never as good as we want it.

Where is this "free funding" coming from? Does the Federal Gov't have a secret money tree (other than the Federal Reserve)? That money comes from us, you and me, in the money we are forced to pay for insurance. So stop using the incorrect term and use the proper term, redistribution!

LSU Athletics, also plows back some profit to the university for academics. If you want to fuel the engine that makes money, we better make sure that engine has all the bells and whistles.
