My great uncle was well known for his mafia connections. The only problem is that he was extorted by them. Not really as cool.

My dad use to work in a melamine plant alongside members of the Marcello's crime family. The plant had gone on strike so the mob was brought in as scabs since they weren't afraid to cross the picket lines and the union thugs wouldn't dare touch them. My dad caught them trying to steal melamine (a fine white powder) so they could use it to cut their cocaine. While he didn't report them to the authorities (you know...so he wouldn't die), he explained to them that doing so would likely kill whomever attempted to snort the coke, leading to potential retaliation. They thanked him for saving their business. From then on, he rode into the plant with them and the union thugs never messed with his car again. Also, they thanked him by taking some high strength chromium alloy piping and fashioning it into a BBQ pit, smoker, and the sturdiest mailbox of all time.

Anyone that would had been seriously connected to the mob then or what’s left of it today don’t talk about it much less brag or announce it.

Ive noticed that every Italian claims at least one Uncle or grandfather was in the mob. Its very annoying.
