Moved to Texas two years ago, HS Soph son and freshman daughter

Both kids are life long LSU fans, wife is from BTR, I went to LSU

Both kids want to go to LSU, no idea how we will pay for it

Few things we have going for us, kids are honor students in Katy ISD, family owns a house in BTR so living expenses will be cheap

Plan on sending them to BRCC or SELA for a year or two, set up the house with their name on a "lease," set up utilities in their name, have each get jobs, register to vote, file a LA tax return and apply for LA citizenship after 2 years there in BTR

pray for us

Give them some time. You really should take them to look at UT-A, UH, A&M, etc. They might think differently. But LSU is, of course, great. Hopefully they study hard for the ACT/SAT and can get themselves some money from LSU.

I'm sure your kids will love this. Dads too cheap to send you to LSU now so you will attend BRCC for a few years and then transfer in to LSU. BTW if your Kids are honors in Katy ISD wouldn't they qualify for some sort of scholarships?

I came from Arkansas, my parents feel your pain. Check out SREB, they'll waive a students out of state tuition depending on the program.

For example, if I would have studied Biochemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or Fashion Merchandising my tuition would have been waived. Check it out, I'm not sure what they offer TX students

Good luck

You only had to pay 1/4 of OOS tuition if parent was alumni. I got instate after 2.5 years of trying.

They want kids from OOS, but its clear they don't give a shite if your parents went to LSU. Its not my parents fault Louisiana economy went to shite forcing a lot of people to move to Houston and Atlanta.
