re: Braves fans: How does the Braves team look going into spring training?

Bethancourt is going to be an allstar catcher, Chris Johnson is going to be really good in this offense, Simmons is finally going to put it all together at the plate, steady veteran leadership in Markakis, great starting staff, awesome bullpen...addition by subtraction with JHey. You're an idiot.

Never said the offense was good. Said it might be a wash from last year since we won't have the all the Ks. Pitching will be better. Defense a wash.
It's all about attitude and they will have it this year.

The team won 76 games last year with a good starting pitching, and a pretty good pen, but no offense. The strength of this years team will be the starting staff, and the pen, but the offense looks much worse. I see no way this team eclipses last years total unless our new hitting coach works a miracle with Simmons, Johnson, and Bethancourt.

Why exactly does Bethancourt and Johnson need miracles worked? The sound the ball makes coming off the bat of Bethancourt reminds me Gincarlo Stanton, I think he's going to be a stud

Someone that never hit in the minors, and could only muster some singles in the time he was in Atlanta is comparable to Stanton? Wow, is all I can say.
Bethancourt has done nothing in any professional stop to even suggest he will be a league average hitter.

This team is going to probably be the worst offensive team in the majors.
Good and deep rotation along with solid bullpen. Allows them to win 70 games.
Maybe they can get some OK prospects from their veteran projects at the trade deadline. Hopefully they can get a decent haul for Kimbrel.
Lastly Markakis signing still makes zero sense

At first, I hated the Markakis signing, but Ive grown to be ok with it, and understand it. We needed a constant bat somewhere in the outfield, and even though Markakis is getting around 11 mil a year, its not that bad. His skill set should not diminish that much in the four years that he is here, so he should still be a solid OBP guy in his last year, when we are trying to win games.

82-80 3rd place in the division

lol, yea it's all just gonna "fall into place"..
good luck, dipshit

Slightly worse.
Pitching is improved, but offense drops off with hardly any power hitters. I'm expecting a lot of low scoring games this year.

Bout the same as the post above
Don't be surprised if we see Tyrell Jenkins starting by mid season
What we lose from Gattis offensively (aka homers only) we make up for with solid defense in left and behind the plate
Very, very slight drop off in D in RF, some drop off at the bat
Upton is the biggest loss but we got good return
Not expecting close to a playoff team but not expecting last place

It's ok, people laughed and called me a dipshit when I said they would be bad last spring training...you can laugh and call me a dipshit now.

It doesn't make any sense to me as I think you guys should be in rebuild mode, but it feels like you're only halfheartedly doing so, making the signing of a guy on the wrong side of 30 very confusing. But I'm also from the camp of if you're not going to compete tank as much as you can because the system rewards it.

I don't think you are a dipshit. I just think you say things like this to get a reaction.
The Markakis signing makes zero sense.
I am looking forward to seeing Peraza at 2b after super 2 passes. Will be fun to watch he and Simmons up the middle for the next several years.
Pitching will keep us in a bunch of games. That being said, we have no shot at the playoffs. If this team played near .500 ball this year, I'd consider it a big win.

I'm being serious, of course it's my opinion and a gut instinct but I'm not trying to troll.

Granted it is in RF, but heyward is in a different league defensively than Markakis.
Markakis is not what I wound call a good defensive player. Hopefully his bat stays above average, but his age I doubt it.

A lot of doubters and pessimism in the Braves community, now I know what positigers feel like.

should be about the same, so unless the rest of the east gets a lot better, then not much difference. not sure where you get the "way worse"...
Because the Nationals, Mets, and Marlins improved in the off-season, while the Braves got significantly worse.
