Um, I'm not referring specifically to this incident, but, I've seen Dr. Breen in St.Tammany Parish Hospital at 3am. He tried to deliver all of his own patients. He worked his arse off. So much so that I wondered how much his family saw him.

Personally killing a Doctor you're guilty to proven otherwise

Can't they hold her for a certain amount of time without charging her?
I would think if they were just deciding what to charge her with and not if they were going to charge her she'd be locked up

Most OBs are. In the 90s he had the most Hospital RNs as his patients. That to me was always a huge compliment to an OB/GYN.

24 hours I believe. Autopsy results take longer than that.

I think it means they have considered (and are considering) all options. It is their job to take her statement, get her story then investigate. There was no initial PC so they had no charges to file. If the investigation shows PC that they can justify an arrest and subsequent charges, then I think there is probably enough evidence to say it was something more than JUST self defense. How much more we probably won't know till the trial.
Right, but the statement still indicates to me that they think self defense may be involved. If they didn't think so, she would be arrested and charged with at least manslaughter.

You sure are doing some serious knighting for this cat.

Maybe he shouldn't have knocked up so many nurses.

Don't think she would leave.

She's got a kid so don't really think she's a flight risk. Plus, I'm sure she thinks she'll walk. Her word against hi...er nobody

Why would they? There's no need to. She called the police and they responded to her call.
I doubt she's going to run. She's going to stay around for her share of his estate.
If they "hold" her or charge "her," her attorney will make the argument that there was a rush to judgment. If it does go to trial, a prosecutor (let's hope that it's not Julie Knight) will be in a position to say that the police took their time, developed the evidence, and made a rational decision based on the evidence.

I know the cat. Sat with him face to face. He operated on my wife. He called me on my cell immediately afterwards to talk to me about it. He looked me right in the face and assured me that other than my wife and I, nobody wanted her to be healthy more than him. He walked the walk. He made things happen.
Do I know him personally beyond all that, no. Am i prone to believe what I know until I see otherwise, absolutely. I will knight for him until I see that nor charges are filed. At that time, if it comes, I will accept that my assumption of his personal life was wrong. But, in no way will I ever say that it took away from his skills as a physician, hid bedside manner, his approach to medicine and his care for his patients.

Right, but if they knew they were going to charge her with something, could they not arrest her, charge he with manslaughter, and then up the charges after a full investigation if they saw it fit?
Also, if they thought self defense was only a remote possibility, I would think that they would charge her and then drop the charges pending a full investigation.

Of course it may have been. There is evidence of a physical altercation so of course it is a possibility. But a physical altercation could mean alot of things.
What if his wife walked in on him with another woman? What if he walked in on her? What if he came home stoned and she was eating his Frosted Flakes?
The fact that she wasn't charged is not very telling to me other than there was not overwhelming evidence that murder was the case initially.

they can arrest for for whatever they want...it's up to the DA to prosecute.
