Yeah. Probably my favorite character right now.

I thought this episode was pretty good and by the end of it the story had progressed alot. I think the take on this place is that it is a safe place, menaing its inhabitants don't mean them any harm, but it is also a very dangerous place because these people are so weak and vulnerable and it is a setup any outsiders would want to take. The only reason it has survived was mentioned by the senator lady, the entire northern Virginia area, millions of people, were evacuated. There aren't any people, or walkers in that area of the country. Maybe just a few walker stragglers here and there.
I also think Rick's crew was recruited with a purpose, protection. The senator knows these people are weak, they have probably started to increasingly encounter walkers, or maybe roving bands, while on scavenger hunts. There are also the 3 people she banished. She knows there are threats out there and that this community needs protection. I doubt she really understands just how bad it is on the outside though.
There is something with that girl. Pretty sure she is the one who took Rick's gun. She might even be a plant for some outside group and she is giving them intel. Over course, I think if that were the case they would already know this place was weak and would have taken it down by now. She's been there for months already. So I am thinking this girl is just feral, like the group she was outside too long. I think she definitely took the gun though.
Thought Darryl might be feeling out of place. I think he got reassurance whne the bada$$ braintrust, Rick, Carol, and Darryl met outside and Rick told them that they were either going to make this place work or they were going to take it from them. Took that to mean that these people were either going to get on Rick's page or they were going to get out. I'm sure Darryl liked that line of thinking because I think he was worried Rick was going soft. Rick isn't going to go back to soft.
Good post.

It will be interesting to see who comes up with Rick's hidden gun.
Might be Enid, as she was out wandering in that area, but it seems like whoever "found" it had to have been watching Rick stash it. That was a big pile of junk to just happen to look into the one thing that contained something of value. Plus there was a walker underneath some of that junk so I don't think someone was just sifting through and happened upon it without knowing it was there.

Was that walker taking a nap or something

Didn't Deanna say that they hadn't let anyone in for a long time, but then the young guys said that the young girl had only been there a few weeks. I wonder if the young girl is a spy for the wolves and she is sneaking out giving them intel and supplies.
She had been there 3 months. She didn't talk the first few weeks.
I love how Carol totally lied her arse off for her interview.

Not only are the braces on the wrong side, but they have a huge perimeter with no one guarding it
At some point - The congresswoman said most of Virginia had been evacuated early on... So there may be a less dense walker population there. Would explain the roads being easier to travel as well.

Could have been trapped there as a "walker-trap" for whoever came back for the gun. I really think the Wolves group from earlier is right outside of the walls and are scoping everything out. They may have sent Enid in months in advance to gain trust and not draw interest while looking for weak spots.
Alexandria is unique in that it is an ultimate location of sorts. Attackers can't use walkers like Rick and crew did in Woodbury because they would want to claim it, not destroy it. (Also can't blow the walls down with a tank for the same reason) You want to attack it's leaders and keep as many of your own alive in order to maintain the community afterwards. A careful attack is absolutely critical and a young girl is a pretty great Trojan Horse. Also liked the comic book in the attic with something about Wolf or Wolves.

I hope Enid is not some sort of sleeper agent for the Wolves. Problem with that is it would have taken her about 3 days to figure out those people are soft and that security is lax. The Wolves wouldn't have to knock any of the walls down, just scale the unguarded fences at night, go to the houses of any leaders/threats Enid identifies and slit their throats. Come morning be standing in the town square, fully armed, and lay down the law, or make more zombie torsos out of the rest of the community.
It would be that simple to take that place over.

FYI in case it hasn't been brought up. The ankle grabbing walker that Carl spiked was a celebrity cameo: Scott Ian from Anthrax.

Did anyone else notice the rundown condition of the houses just outside the gate? When Rick was walking around checking out the braces, it looked like one may have even been burned. Makes me wonder if the outside was attacked, and if so, how did the fence hold?

I'm sure earlier versions of this article have already been posted, but its pretty interesting.

For some reason, the foreheads of the walkers in the midseason premiere were also labeled with a ‘W,’ which suggests that the ‘W’ shape in the trees wasn’t just a coincidence. It was another reference to the wolves.

Wolf Fight. I was certain that was going to be the Easter egg they were talking about on Talking Dead but then I thought they wouldn't just outright tell the audience that shite's going to go down with a certain group name. However, they are foreshadowing the frick out a wolf/wolves.

Has this been discussed? We were talking about the Rick/Shane similarity.
Remember when Shane got back from his trip with Otis? After he killed Otis he showered and shaved his head. This marked a definite change in Shane and he was more brutal and in "survival mode" after that.
This time, Rick showers and shaves the beard. The camera shot is pretty much the same as the Shane head shave. After the beard is gone, this marks a change in Rick. He has always been in survival mode, but at the end of the episode he says, "And if we have to, we'll take this place." A definitely more brutal Rick has emerged.
I just found it interesting considering we were talking Shane/Rick contrasts.

Carol playing possum is awesome. "I didn't have much to offer the group so I sort became the Den Mother. I'm a real people person."
I thought that was good too. Also, you noticed how clumsy she was with he gun when she was taking it off? Shes definitely trying to make herself seem non threatening.

Bad link.
Where was the first picture with the trees? Looks a lot like the grove where Carol, Tyrese and the girls were staying--look at the flowers.

Are you positive?
For some reason when i read the post the "8 months" rang a bell for me too.
I thought I had remembered "few," but right before I posted that, I watched that part of the episode (to make sure I got the quote right).
ETA: Well shite...I just watched it again to be sure, and turned the volume WAY up, and now I'm not sure exactly what he says. May have to watch it at home with subtitles...I still think he says a few, but it very well could be "eight" upon further investigation.

Everytime that Alanna girl would talk on the Talking Dead aftershow was so cringe-worthy. She had like zero self-awareness. She would butt in on the other two guests' answers, and like I said, just made me cringe when she opened her mouth.
Exactly what my wife and I thought. She would be unbelievably irritating to work with. She is one of those people that thinks that she is funny and "the life of the party" but is far from it.

You missed my earlier post where I said I now thought the boy said "a few months", but that was when I was watching it this morning on the computer. Last night when I thought it was 8 months, I had watched it on TV with subtitles...so maybe the subtitles read eight and that's where I got it from.

Yup. They asked her who had the best prank and she said herself, going on and on about some "hilarious" stuff she does around set.

We don't actually know who the wolves are, correct? Just seen references?
