So I should take Malaysia Airlines next time I fly to Houston?

I can tell you the new hires are highly qualified. It's about 50/50 here at DL between regional flow up and military. The competition for mainline jobs is so fierce, our hiring committee is turning down 90% of applicants that make it to scenario interviews

our flow through guys really struggle with training here, kind of baffles me considering the environment they're coming from

United is fine.
My "nervous" story with them was they were the last leg from IAH to MSY coming back from Spain. They had to reboot the plane's electronics right after we boarded. Lights turn off and everything. We then flew through a rainstorm into MSY. It's just not comforting
However, United was also awesome while I was at Dulles at the beginning of that trip and flight to Frankfurt on Lufthansa was cancelled 5 hours before departure (assholes knew their plane was stuck in Frankfurt due to snow but waited til almost last minute? ).
Anywho, United had a flight maybe 1 hour later same day and got me on that one.
Eta: Lufthansa customer service must be nonexistent. Couldn't get to a person on the phone, sent an email and that wasn't returned for a month

we just got our first one, bunch of buddies are check airmen on it, calling themselves the cream team, well actually that's what we call them, they refer to themselves as the dream team

Only airline I've ever flown where I got bumped while having a ticket. I'll never fly United again.

airlines are allowed to overbook by a percentage, and it's mainly because of people gaming the system and making multiple reservations and generally trying to rip them off, that was the impetus behind the change fees and other penalties, also there are different levels of tickets and fares, it would be highly unlikely that if you would ask the 10 people sitting nearest you what they paid for their ticket that they would all be the same, on top of that there are lifetime ticket holders that can walk up to any flight and will be given a seat regardless of whether the flight is full, and one other thing is that from time to time they have to reposition company personnel to cover the operation of flights or company business down line, and they take priority, usually the people getting bumped, and probably you were as well, are taken care of with free tickets, miles, hotels, booking on next available flight, etc.

the only issue i have had with united is they are fricking ALWAYS at least 30 minutes late, which isn't that big a deal, but still. i've left early on american or delta more times than late, but i prefer united sinc eit takes me thru houston

Let me ask this question. When flights are delayed at the gate or on the tarmac, why don't they go to another gate, and or allow the passengers to get out of the plane. Just listening to the report on 5 and 9 hour delays on some UA flights our of Dallas, and it got me wondering.

Not entirely true.

I was able to keep my all my segments on Delta last year. Sadly I think I will have to fly United when I go to Houston in November

Nice link. Denied boardings, two times higher than anyone else and well over three times Delta.
I know things happen and they're allowed to overbook, but part of what expect when I purchase a ticket is to be on the plane. And when your performance is so far substandard than everyone else, then I'll fly elsewhere especially when I can pay the same thing with another airline.

It's the best plane boeing has ever built next to the 747.
The 787 and 777x are what's killing the A380 as far as demand goes.
I think we'll see the 787-10 flying the Vice President as Air Force Two not too far off in the future.
