The Thin Man series has a lot of good stuff in it.
If you are in the mood for a comedy I'd suggest the least family friendly family comedy ever made... Mr. Hobbes Takes A Vacation.
It is worth watching if only to see Jimmy Stewart refer to someone as "its a white pygmy" or "Where's that albino?" Though little can compare to a dear old grandfather addressing his grandson as "You little creep."
