Watching "The Summit" on Netflix. Anyone else like high altitude climbing?

It's about the 2008 disaster on K2. Watching this documentary really makes you realize how crazy difficult K2 is. Even crazier is that they got video of these guys going up the mountain, which really puts it into perspective vs other shows about Everest.
Also the bottleneck and serac on K2 is scary just watching it on TV.

Almost watched this the other day. Pretty good?

I like high altitude climbing in that I like backpacking and camping and reading/watching stuff about high altitude climbing. But I've never done anything.
I'd still like to do some mountaineering, but even if I actually do it I think Denali/Aconcagua would be as far as I'd go. Maybe Cho Oyu, but I'm not being very realistic when I say that.

I watched it a few weeks ago and thought it was very well done.
Can't imagine watching guys sliding to their deaths just inches away from you.

Just rented it. I've read just about every book on 2008 and 1986 K2 plus several others on the history of the mountain. I'm looking forward to watching this.

I've got a friend who's done the 7 summits, but not for me. I love elevation but I don't care for extreme altitudes.

What happened in 08'? Someone's mountain cabin value crashed?

I like reading, hearing about/ watching other people do it.
But,climbing has never been an option for me because I am sick-scared of heights.

Great documentary. There's also, Everest IMAX and a few other mountain movies on netflix. I got real into it last month when the bodies on Everest thread was going on. Freaky, macabre, fascinating stuff.

I've done a little climbing, and always had a hankering to try one of the big peaks, but life gets in the way. At this point I'm not willing to make the sacrifice of time and resources to do something like that.

I'm not big on heights anymore.
As a kid I wanted to climb Devils tower, ropeless.

A few years ago I was with a group that spent time in the Andes. We went from sea level on the flight over to a parking lot at over 15,000 feet on the side of Mt. Cotopaxi the next day. Really bad idea, at least half the group was quite ill.
I do like being above timberline in Colorado and have done Long's Peak (14,256) several times but mostly just like to get above the trees. You feel like you are on top of the world. But I have enough sense to allow a few days to get used to higher altitude first.

I like climbing mountains. Me @ 13,775
Highest I've done is a 14er in Colorado but that wasnt a technical ascent. I don't ever see myself doing anything too crazy but a a Denali trip is something I would perhaps like to do one day. Depending on the time of year it can be just as hard as any of the other big mountains.
Sadly my climbing buddies are getting old and/or married so I need to find some new climbing partners.

Thanks to this thread I watched this last night. We really enjoyed it. I have read a lot about high altitude climbing, but it was cool to see what it might be like.
