Who can we least afford to lose next year, Mickey or Martin

Hope it's not both.

Mikey for sure. Kid is bad arse.

Mickey because if Elbert doesn't develop we will have no true center

So what the prediction?.....besides pain

We need Mickey back, though Martin is a better prospect.

Martin has a higher ceiling but him and Simmons are kinda similar players. Mickey would be the bigger addition back but is the more likely to declare IMO.

I will say that Martin can make his own shot better.
If we had to have only one next year, I think I'd rather Martin to be honest. Maybe it's just because Mickey is in a slump. IDK.

Id think we would rather Mickey. Keep in down low as a post presence. Replacing Martin with Simmons shouldnt be that difficult of a transition. Simmons is closer to martin than mickey but has a wider skill set. Without Mickey we arent guaranteed a true proven Center or Power forward.
I think Simmons can replace the inside/out game Martin has developed moreso than we can hope for anyone we have coming close to replacing Mickey.

I agree that Simmons is more similar to Martin, but I don't think that changes my opinion of who LSU would rather have.
I love Mickey and his ability to block shots, but I'd almost rather have the height and the guy who you know can score on an island. I think Mickey's block total does give some people a over-inflated sense of Mickey's defensive prowess. It allows a ton of back side offensive rebounds, and he really struggles to guard post players one on one.

I think it's Martin as he would fit better with the 2 coming in. Ben should play SF and the offense should run through him. We could go big with one of the 2 7 footers, Martin, Simmons, AB, and TQ. That's assuming AB is effective at PG.
I could see a bunch of (lineup) options if either M&M comes back.

Craig Victor will be a big time defender and rebounder down low also.

Mickey actually considered leaving last year, think martin will be back barring a ridiculous run of games a la UF which he is certainly capable of

damn Victor should have came here right out of the game...

Mickey. Easily.
He's not the best on ball defender, but his shot blocking makes up for a LOT of poor defensive play. Even just his presence inside alters how teams attack LSU. There are plenty of times where his blocks are the first "pass" in LSU's transition game.
There are times where Martin disappears in games yet other guys are able to pick up the slack offensively. There's no one on LSU's team that can make up for Mickey's ability to protect the rim. Once Mickey leaves LSU fans will realize that "you don't know what you've got until it's gone"

I think the Kentucky game was Martin's coming out party and he finally figured out how he has to play. Martin will be a force next year if he decides to stay. I just don't see Mickey with as high of a ceiling for improvement as Martin had. Now having both back would be unbelievable.

I forgot about Victor. Victor will be a huge add.

Think about how many more games we could've lost without Mickey playing defense. Blocks are huge and lead to fast breaks often
Martin has been in foul trouble and missed big time minutes in some games. In those times, Mickey shouldered the load and played well. And his jumper is smooth. I honestly think his offensive game is on the same level as Martin.
Either one staying would be huge. Love both of these guys. If they both leave, look for similar results next year, regardless of what recruits we bring in. It's just like replacing really good players with two new ones if M&M leave. I don't see us being much better if we lose both of these young men
