Feliciana Livestock Club 4-H & FFA sale. Meat hogs available

This Saturday will be the Feliciana Livestock club sale. Should be around 35 market hogs ranging from 200-285lbs. Sounds like there may be a shortage of buyers this year so could get a decent deal.
There are several options for buyers. We use Cutrers Meat Market in Kentwood and will haul the pig to the slaughter for the buyers.
All pigs are 4-H or FFA project animals raised and shown by kids from the Feliciana parishes.
If anyone is interested email me felicianatigerfan@yahoo

Feliciana supposed to be spelled like that in the email, or that a typo?

Forgive my ignorance, but processed or just slaughtered ready to process?

Both, it's a slaughter house and meat market. Buyers will have 2 weeks to contact the meat market and let them know how they want it cut, if not it will be cut for a family of 4.

is this like the 4-H or what?...

It's 4-H and FFA joined together. I'll edit to be more specific.

Sounds great, wish I was closer by, would be there in a heartbeat.
Best of luck!

Ours has been on a diet of bread and calf milk replacer along with protein feed for the past month so he should have some sweet meat.

I drug a few steers, heifers and bulls around the ring many years ago. Good times.

I didn't remember it being near as expensive when I was a kid. Had to call my dad and thank him for the time and money they spent on me when I was a kid and showing livestock.

More expensive now, but not cheap then, I'd expect.

It's an expensive hobby if you want to call it that. Good luck with the sale. Did you stick around for the end of the show on Saturday?

As in what does it cost to buy a whole processed pig? I have no idea.

How quickly could someone get one cleaned and quartered for the ride home? Serious question, I've never bought meat this way but I'm interested. Is the choice either take it home live or come back and get it on another day?

Basically you can buy it and we haul it to slaughter house/processor and you pick up the packaged meat from there. I think the meat market slaughters, bleeds, and hangs the meat for 2 weeks then cuts and packages. I'd imagine death to freezer in a day may lessen the quality of the product.
