I watched him a good bit last season and I thought he played very well. I know a lot of you disagree but IMO he was our best corner last season. He made great improvement from the 2013 to 2014 season and looked like a different player on the field. He'll be a good NFL CB.

Wow, that was unexpected. He just shot up the draft board.
Really? How could you not expect him to run fast? Have you seen him run? Everyone knew he would run fast.

I don't think people expected him to be that fast. I thought he was more of a 4.55 guy. He was never known as a flat out burner like that. You never heard his name as being one of the fastest guys on the team. Never even in the conversation.

Tre white was and is a better corner than Collins

Actually that's exactly the opposite of what I heard every time people mentioned the fastest players. On long plays he was always running down the opposing players.

His head turns back to the QB late and the ball is already behind him. (this same trait has been there since he was a freshman). Maybe a good NFL DB coach can correct this. He obviously has the size and athleticism.

And, holy smokes, those knockers!

I've never had any problems with Collins and I'm glad he did well at the combine. I do think it speaks volumes about the "DBU" label for LSU if a guy like Collins gets drafted in the 1st round.

It's easy to overlook Tre because teams didn't test him as much as Collins. Collins was not as far off the level that White played though. He had a really good season and is being rewarded with a high draft grade. Insane that a portion of the fan base is adamantly trying to convince everyone that all the pro scouts and draft analysts are wrong and that he is just average. He's a big, athletic corner that shows willingness to work hard. He is great in run coverage and pretty damn good in coverage. He can't catch a cold, but that is something that can be improved upon.

Yeah, Collins had a good season last year compared to his previous years, but he will have to get coached up in the NFL to become an effective NFL CB or he'll get torched worse than Simon. Only thing I didn't like about last season was how he played Amari Cooper. I know Cooper finally broke out and was great this past season(I still don't think he is no OB3 or even Landry) but Bama fans probably think so. Anyways Collins played Cooper scared and you can't do that. Go out and be aggressive. If he beats you he beats you on a route, but you can't play scared letting the guy have his way like he did in that game.

8 catches 83 yards and 1 TD. The TD was a mistake that accounted for 23 yards and the lone TD. Cooper averaged 123.36 yards per game and 1.14 TD's. 83 yards was his second lowest yardage output of the season. Hargreaves at Florida is considered the #1 corner in next years draft class. Their matchup was supposed to be one of the better of the season. Cooper went for 201 yards and 3 TD's.

Amari was better than both of those guys in college. I doubt he has the rookie season of Odell, but Cooper's play this year was second to none.

No he played him cautiously, which is what you do with a guy that can potentially break any catch into an 80 yard TD. Not sure what game you watched, but Cooper in no way shape or form had his way. Probably his worst game of the season next to Arkansas. (Which was more of a team playing like shite situation)

I'm pretty sure it was the play-call and position that didn't help out Collins. If we we're in zone, Kiffen would call an audible for a Cooper slant. If we we're in man, Kiffen would go for a seam. Cooper was highly targeted that game. I thought Collins did a good job. That's just pure nit-picking. PP didn't have great games against Julio Jones or AJ Green either. As I recall, Julio Jones dominated PP last year. Collins has the tools to be great- everyone acts like he can't be coached to become a good corner. Look at all the late round draft picks (corners, safeties) that were successful in the NFL. shite, an undrafted rookie won the Patriots the Superbowl.
It's more than just talent. There's IQ, work-ethic. I've never seen or head Collins complain at all. You should all be grateful that he's repping DBU. Even a 3rd string corner can become a first round draft pick. I'm sure that will be appealing to recruits.

Even a 3rd string corner
We need a course on strings in football. Collins was a starting corner in 2012, half of 2013, and in 2014. At his lowest point, he was the 3rd CB, or 2nd string. At no point was he ever 3rd string, other than his Redshirt year.
Posted on 2/24/15 at 10:34 am to Mr. Wayne
You know what you're right. At best he was 2nd string. I think he started just 10 games though in his career.

By handful I mean about 5-6 corners in the league that are actually blanket corners that can cover(tightly)in man to man coverage. Most corners in the league get beat...a lot.
Sherman
Haden
Revis
Grimes
PP
One of the two Cromarties
Other than these guys name me 5 more good cover corners.

Amari Cooper was basically Sim's go to the guy all season. He's supposed to put stats up like that. The other Bama receivers were used scarcely. Beckham and Landry put up great numbers playin together. What numbers do you think they would have put up if they were the primary receiver on their team?? I gave Cooper credit for his breakout season last year, but don't try and tell me he's better than OB3 and Landry. That's the real joke! lol
those two guys went on to the pros and stood out their rookie seasons on their respective teams to show what they did at LSU was no fluke. We'll see what Cooper does in the pros?? Some of you guys I don't get, you down play LSU players.

Cooper is legit. He's better than Landry imo. Big,fast, strong,& a hell of a route runner. I love Landry but Cooper is easily the best receiver in the draft.
