The night Gymnastics arrived in Baton Rouge

It was a seminal moment for the LSU gymnastics program on Friday night. While it had risen to the ranks of the nation's elite it had not achieved that moment when it did not have to look up at any team. Yes, it had achieved the #1 ranking a few times, but there was always the sentiment the program was not quite there, the experience at handling the big moment would be a little too much. Though progressively finishing higher the team proved the truth of this sentiment at the Super Six.
Tonight, before 12,217 roaring fans, the largest crowd in the history of the program the team embraced the moment, stared down the defending national champion and current second ranked team and served notice there is a new queen of the hill and she is dressed in purple and gold.
For sure the senior Big three put on a show, but even they had a couple of stumbles. The younger performers were there, showing they had learned from their elders, but most importantly showing the moment was no longer too big. This is a deep and talented roster which is poised to take home the program's first title. They just need to remember to live in the moment and embrace it.
Beyond the win, the incredible crowd tonight was further testimony of where this program has evolved and where it can go in the future. As section after section from top to bottom began to fill with purple and gold it was evident this team has won the hearts of the Tiger faithful. No one had to announce the arrival of the seminal moment. The electricity in the building as Mike rappelled from the ceiling and the lights dimmed harkened back to that February night in 1978 as the Tiger round ballers served notice that program had arrived. Both nights were truly an event. You were blessed if you attended ether one. Some of us are twice blessed.

Well written but it's still gymnastics.

Seriously, which one of LSU's gymnasts is your kid?

Well done Tigerbb and wish TWC would have allowed me to witness it, as LSU gymnastics is a great watch like in the Olympics. Kudos to the girls and DD!

They took a 9.2 and a 9.3. Not to rain on the parade but if those two performances were only "poor", like 9.7, they destroy us. Those two scores were an anomaly. Tigers didnt win this, Florida lost it. That said we have a hell of a gym team

Im in and I don't care if it's gymnastics! It's LSU athletics and I support it. If you don't like, thats you're opinion, but let those who know what being a real Tiger supporter/fan/alumni is all about!

WRONG. You have to hit in gymnastics. They didn't. We did. End of story.

We officially have the worst fan base in the history of the world.

WRONG. Under 198 will not will a NC. I am a tiger fan. But look at the scores. All 9.75 and above. If one gymnast takes a 9.2, its almost insurmountable.

Les HAS NOT lost control of the Gymnastics Team

I remember when I ran track the gymnastics girls would come out and stretch with us during indoor season.....I like gymnastics.

Worst fan base bc of my comments? LOL I graduated from LSU and biggest fan of all. Why the frick would I even be commenting on a gymnastics thread. Did you even notice the scores? Ironic calling me out for worse fan base while I actually followed the meet in real time, and you commenting after the fact

You know they dropped both of those scores right? You have 6 scores and drop the lowest, so neither of those scores counted, so you have no clue what you're talking about

You actually have no idea how the scoring system works.

Fair enough, I will take my medicine. Did the math. I realize now that they drop the lowest score of 6. Good win! Sorry

That said, I still think most would agree that we need 198+ to win a NC. We have done it before this year.

Well it's a good thing we fired Javi. Just look at the results.
