True. But where does that mentality come from? Their parents. For generations since the 60's parents, who worked mostly blue collar jobs, have preached to their children the importance of a college education so that they don't have to do the blue collar job that their parents did. Right, wrong or otherwise, Indirectly they have imparted a mentality in their children that blue collar work should be "beneath" them.

I despise people that look down on folks w/ blue collar jobs and no college degree. The further I went in my education the more of them I've encountered.

no, but you're more than likely going to have to deal with the negative aspects of working a blue collar job for 20+ years.

working outside in the elements
working early in the morning
lots of travel to different job sites
demanding physical labor
drug tests
exposure to carcinogens and other health issues
etc.

But let's not pretend blue collar types don't take their revenge on those of us in the professional world.
Dress like an attorney and walk into a gun store, for example. Good times will ensue.
This exact scenario just happened to me(Replace attorney with IT Analyst). Once they found out I was a veteran they were cool, but you would have though I just shot somebody by the looks I got when I walked in.
Didn't care, love my XDm.

plenty of white collar job require travel, long hours and drug tests...
as for physical labor, well that is probably better for you than sitting behind a desk for 20+ years so...

If anyone has a negative view of someone with blue collar jobs please read The Millionaire Next Door
It is a great look into how people become millionaires and you're stereotypes of rich people (doctors, lawyers, financial advisors) are worth near what they should be worth

I really didn't know blue collar was generally looked down on, but I grew up clue collar and have a blue collar job.
I don't care what someone does for a living as long as they aren't living off the government
