Building a SBR Updated

I decided against buying a complete SBR to save on time. I bought a couple of spikes lowers and I want to build it myself. The SBR will be in 300 blackout. The other I'll turn into a 5.56 pistol. I did go ahead and start the trust to buy a few suppressors
Getting the gemtech gm22, the gm45, and the sandstorm.
What do I do to to build the sbr?
What's the best parts to get for it?
Any help is appreciated.
Update. Pic of the pistol so far.
Noveske 8.5" barrel
Noveske kx3 flash hider
Vltor upper
Spikes lower
Phase 5 pistol buffer tube and spring
Cmc single stage trigger
Samson evolution handguard
Bad lever
Utg pistol grip
Not my eotech in the picture. I have one on the way. The 552 with a laser. Also waiting on my magpul AFG and jp silent buffer system.
I'm filling the paperwork to sbr another spikes lower now. I can't wait! :nana:
Also, I'm on the list for a gemtech sandstorm.

there are a few of us on here who have 300blk builds. if you are going to SBR it, then there is no real reason to go ANY longer than 8.5".
i used:
noveske 300blk 8.2" barrel
vltor stripped upper
seekins 12" BAR
PRI Gasbuster Charging handle
AAC SDN-6
Geiselle SSA-E trigger
magpul/ large/ B5 furniture
Night Force 1-4x for an optic

what is the reason for this? what is magical about 8.5"?

.300blk does not see any major performance gains with longer barrels. Velocity gains are nearly negligible for how much extra barrel you add. The rifle is meant to have a short barrel for this reason, keeping it shorter than 8.5 will give you awesome performance in a small as possible package.

I was always told to go longer if you plan on suppressing it. lets the gas travel a little further so it doesn't put too much pressure on the can.
ETA: 10 inch is ideal

in addition to what Chat mentioned, because of the rounds design, it burns all of its powder within 9" so you don't gain any velocity from a longer barrel

I see...the gasses are fully burned by that point...the article below says 9", but whatever, close enough. I didn't realize this...perhaps I should pick up a .300 blk upper for my sig "pistol"

8.2" Noveske Barrel (current production is an 8.5")
Vltor stripped upper
LMT FA bcg
Raptor charging handle (although thinking of giving the gas buster a try)
Spikes lower
ALG ACT trigger
7" SLR solo hand guard
Outfitted with Magpul/B5 grey handle/grip/stock (concrete jungle type stuff )
Specwar 7.62 suppressor
And just upgraded to a JP silent buffer system (is so freaking legit)
Welcome to the SBR club.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I've been told to go 10" or less on the barrel so I am already leaning towards the short as possible route.
How do you like that aac can?
Thanks for the silent buffer tip. Just added it to my list of parts.
I'm pretty pumped up about this. I have several guns (a lot were lost in a boating accident unfortunately though) but nothing with a tax stamp. I plan on having at least 4 in the next few months.
What's the process to get the lower engraved and getting the form 1 going?

no qualms with it. it does as designed and is easy to take off, even under the rail (just need a pencil or pointy object to stick through.)
your sandstorm would be a breeze if you were looking to go under the rail with your can.

it makes quite a difference in what the shooter and especially people around you will hear, as the action makes most of the noise.

if your trust is set up then go register on e-forms online, and once you are set on a barrel length and have a lower picked out go submit that biotch.
this link is helpful with each step on what to do:
e-forms for dummies
as far as getting your lower engraved, I am unsure on where to point you. I was fortunate enough to have a family business that took care of it for me. but make sure you get the font size and engraving depth requirements before you bring it to someone. I believe most people just send them off to companies who specialize in AR's and know the requirements. maybe C-Rabbit or LSUMMW could help out here.

Yeah I intend on going under the rail. Possibly a 13" or even a 15" rail.
I'm just now starting on the paperwork for the trust, so once I have it completed I can start everything else.
Thanks for the info and link

Look into a Saker or the new Silenceo Omega. The AAC sdn 6 is a good oNE as well.

standby, my brother built his using a 13" rail and my cousin went 15" both with 8.5" barrels. ill try to get you some pictures

I've almost got my heart set on the sandstorm. I keep hearing that it's supposed to be one of the more accurate ones in 30 caliber.

SLR is suppose to have some rails that can accomodate a can internally by the summer, if you were interested in m-lok or keymod as opposed to quad rail.
Posted on 2/19/15 at 7:22 pm to Soul Gleaux
The measurements I am getting have the samson evolution keymod allowing enough room for the sandstorm to fit in. I could easily be wrong though.

Depending on where you live, I can give you more info on engravings.

How's it work for non-suppressed ARs? I would imagine it lessens vibrations and noise with your cheek on the buffer tube quite a bit.

Accomplishes both of these exceptionally well. Single handedly makes the whole rifle seem higher quality, because it runs so much smoother. Got one for my 300blk and ordered a second for my 5.56 immediately after shooting it
