I came across their add on LA sportsman for some blinds for lease just north of welsh. Anyone lease from the guy? I'm going to call him after work for some details.

Just wondering if anyone had reviews on them. Dont want to tie up a bunch of money to kill a bunch of time all next year...

Blinds that way sucked arse this past year... Not sure if it was because all the feed in the marsh or what.

Lots of hunters over there drug up...

Teal was good

I have always taken the stance that good places don't waste a nickel advertising....they don't have to advertise to keep a waiting list.

I cant imagine why. Its not far from where I had some very good hunts this year. I guess its just a little too far north???

I've leased from him the past 3 years. Don't have anything bad to say about Reggie but every year out there has been worse than the year before. this year we only killed during teal season (teal season is great there) and opening weekend of first split. After that, our blind MAYBE killed 20 ducks the entire rest of the season.

i know our blind will be open this upcoming season

I was in the blind with joshric the past two seasons off of bobby hebert road. Reggie can come off as a dick over the phone, but that is just because he isn't very talkative. That area was awful for big duck this year. Next year there should be significantly more water in the area. Take it for what it's worth

My camp and farm I hunt is in that area, north ofinterstate b/t welsh and Lacassine. We had a bad arse teal season, probably shot more teal then anyone else. Big duck season was slow this year unfortunately, but historically we have had good shooting. We shot a lot of geese this year so that was nice to fill the void when ducks were slow. Fwiw I talk to a lot of farmers in the area and a couple of guides covering a lot of ground around the area and everyone was off with really no exception. The area is in a prime area being just north of the Lacassine wildlife refuge and it's a very established flyway in my opinion. I think the thing that is hurting the fields is the amount of feed/ natural vegatation in the marsh. I think some places are controlling water better in off season and getting the grasses to grow etc. There was also significantly less water in the area, I guess due to rotation farmers were on etc, fields that were flooded last year were dry, I would say probably 50% less water, which I think leads to the birds not holding in the area. For instance the farm just off the interstate and hwy 101on north side was mostly dry, which was completely flooded last year and held a lot of ducks We saw thousands of birds during second split, just was tough to get them to come in, I feel like they were possibly feeding in the fields and then going back to the marsh, also would see thousands of pintails and mallards pile in mud holes in dry fields that were just holding rain water. I'm not going anywhere, too much history of good water fowling in the area in my opinion, however I will be getting a marsh lease south of the area this area just to have options to get where the birds are.

I agree with you on that. Its frustrating at time because you dont have as much mobility as you would elsewhere. But like you said, it has done well historically and definitely holds nice masses of birds if you happen to be where they are. Teal season is unreal and alone is almost worth admission to duck season IMO.

We hunt about 3 miles from a buddy of mine. Outside of the last weekend, saw no ducks on our place. We killed on his pace pretty good all year. Idk what it is

Reggie is just truly in it for the money and himself. He's like a middle man between the farmers and hunters. He will never do anything to help you kill birds on your section. Once he gets paid that's it. I have had bad experiences and know others who have as well.
