On the days a 20 footer would get beat up in Lake P I would most likely prefer to take the turn and head to Golden Meadow or continue on to Hopedale before I would try to put into Lake P. I would rather the longer drive than put in with a 22 or 24 footer and put up with the lake.

Again the Nautic Star and Blazer Bay were at the top of my list.
I wish Blazer Bay would put some jump seats in. It's a small feature but was feature that nosed the Nautic Star ahead for me. When fishing and boat riding with the kids those seats sure are nice.
Frontier also makes a nice boat but I don't think their 19 footer has the storage and layout as nice as the others mentioned.

This is actually a big selling point for me. I have an almost 3 year old that I plan to take fishing in the future. The jump seats definitely make it more family friendly.
Frontier seems to go from 18 to 21.5 footer from what I have seen and the 21 footer is pushing 40k.

I second everything you said. I couldn't care less about jump seats personally, but if I had kids that would be a different story.

I haven't fished in the 20 ft Skeeter. Now I know Skeeter makes a good boat but the thing that jumped out to me when looking at the Skeeters was the hull.
It looks like more of a bass boat hull underneath without as much of a deep V compared to other bay boats. I'm sure that will make it faster and skinnier but not so sure for crossing choppy bays.
Maybe someone who owns one can give some personal insight.

I wouldnt spend 30k on a boat without jump seats. Nobody like riding on the front of the boat

You just have to pick the good weather days.
So you're gonna spend time and money on a boat and then have to be selective abou when and where you can go? LOL. Have fun finding a perfect weather weekend during the summer

I have fished locations based on what the weather has done all my life. Are you saying if I buy a 24 foot boat I can ignore the weather and the fish will magically run to dirty water?

That cannot be within budget can it?

I was replying to whome. But yes, I would never want anything less than 22' for the areas I fish. There's a reason why bay boats are getting bigger and not smaller.

Come on bro. You are better than this.
Everyone has to be selective about weather even the big boats. You are really going to take the position that a 19 ft bay boat isn't worth owning? You do realize that some people prefer the smaller boats and that plenty of people fish year around quite succesfully with them.
I never said the weather had to be perfect.
What size bay boat is worth the investment then in your opinion?

What places do you fish? Can you provide a map?

Barrier islands, huge bays, 45min boat rides
ETA: you can roll with a 19' all day every day in Delacroix, just not something I would necessarily want to rely on for as much as I fish where I fish

Thats a very specific type of use for a boat. How does that make a 19 footer not worth owning for the OP or anyone else? I mean no offense here as I have a lot of respect for most here on the Outdoor board but it seems you are being narrow minded about the topic.
What type boat do you own?

What would be an example of a "huge bay" in Louisiana? I think we call all those Lakes here don't we?

Those are center console boats. Not bay boats. There is a significant difference.

How the frick am I being narrow minded? The op asked an opinion and I clearly stated it. Would you like me to repeat it? I just don't want the op to buy a 19' boat and then regret it.
