NCIS/CSI/and others: I hate these freaking dull crime dramas.

Do you feel the same? Who watches this boring garbage?
...why must my wife watch this stuff?

Older people. My parents (mid 50s) watch this garbage non-stop. It's either NCIS New Orleans, NCIS, Blue Bloods, Rizoli and Isles, Castle, or Date Line that is on the TV whenever I go home to visit.

It literally drains me when it's on...I try to simply spend time with her while she watches, but these shows are depressing to watch!

I always try to get them into shows that you can't just watch randomly and get everything, but I think that is what they enjoy about them. They can try to solve the mystery mid show then forget about it immediately afterwards. I guess there is something to say for that.
I did get them to watch the first 3 episodes of Breaking Bad when they visited me a few weeks ago. My dad was into it, but it was way too intense for my mom. Considering where the show goes, I'm thinking I will never change them.

I would enjoy punching that smug douchebag Horatio Caine in the face repeatedly.

You better punch him before he makes a witty remark, because you'll break your hand on his sunglasses.

I agree to an extent, but you can't include Castle in this. There is a ton of back story in there that you can't just pick up in one episode. Yes there are filler episodes, but they have that in any series.

Mrs. Midnight watches a $hit-ton of NCIS.
I get that it's a quality show - but it is the pinnacle of repetitiveness.

Other than Csi Miami I like all the shows mentioned.

A writer (Castle) shadows a murder detective for his new book series and then slowly becomes her partner as he shows he is good at solving crimes. That's just the premise though, there are great character arcs and a main storyline that intertwines quite well.

Yeah I know me too. There are shows I find boring (Walking Dead being one of them), but I understand the popularity.

Castle deviates from the crime procedural in some ways for sure but it would've been canceled 3 episodes in if anyone other than Nathan Fillion was the lead. He keeps that show going through sheer charisma

Wow, a lot of unintelligent, immature tv watchers in here.
This is how most tv shows are reviewed here:
"Violence...and tits! Awesome show!"

Lol so you're using the fact that the show has a good lead against it? Stana Katic is toe for toe with Fillion in acting chops. She plays her part to perfection. She can flip from serious to sexy without a blink. As you can tell I'm a Castle fan boy, but damn man it belongs no where near this thread.

I know you're an older gentleman so I'll refrain from pointing out that you are the target demographic for these crime shows. Oops. Too late. My parents are in their 60's and they watched the shite out of CSI, Law and Order PQGT, NCIS-Boise, the mentalist, etc.
Point is that shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Wire are too "raw" for my parents and usually anyone over 55. Everything should be in a tidy little now at the end of the show if they are to enjoy it.
Now after saying that I will admit that I love Elementary myself, but that's a classic Sherlock Holmes type story that will usually always find an audience as long as the characters stay fresh.

Kind of like ER and all the medical dramas, these shows have run their course. How do you keep coming up with fresh ideas.
