Who did it before, was it worth it, could you make a career out of it?
Not talking China but Dublin, Belgium, Berlin, London, Paris, etc

One of my cousins has made a career of teaching college level English in Taiwan. She teaches two or three semesters, then takes a break and spends a semester in the States. Seems to work for her.

They don't need English teachers in these countries.

SO really wanted to do this for a while and discussed it on here as well as IRL. Just keep in mind what places you can and can't get away without knowing the language. All that you listed would be fine, I think.

If you're single, go for it. I almost did it in South Korea. I had a teelphone interview scheduled. Then, I went to Mardi Gras and met a girl. She's now my wife and we have a child.
Had I not met her...in like Flynn. Everything is taken care of and there's colonies of many races. Talk about getting some tail.

I taught in Camp Japan after graduating from LSU. Was awesome. Would do again in a heartbeat. I worked for a private company but the JET program is where all the jobs are.
quote:
The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (???????????????? Gogaku Shidoto o Okonau Gaikoku Seinen Shochi Jigyo?) or JET Programme (JET????? Jetto Puroguramu?) is a Japanese government initiative that brings college (university) graduates—mostly native speakers of English—to Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and Sports Education Advisors (SEAs) in Japanese kindergartens, elementary, junior high and high schools, or as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in local governments and boards of education. JET Programme participants are collectively called JETs.
Participants currently come from a total of 40 countries. As of July 1, 2014, 4,476 participants[1] (in CIR, ALT, and SEA positions) were employed on the programme, making it the world's largest exchange teaching programme. Of that number, about half are from the United States (2,457), with Canada (495), the United Kingdom (383), Australia (315), New Zealand (255), Ireland (86), and South Africa (93) making up the majority of JET participants.

Had a friend who has done it all over. Said the worst and most disappointing was Dubai.
She disliked Dubai for a myriad of reasons but mentioned how she had a $60k apartment allowance and still had to get something small in a high rise across town. Weird thing was that the prices were completely artificial and 90% of the building was vacant.
Basically they treat people like slaves, go back on their deals once you get there but there's no recourse, etc.
