As someone uninitiated to thinking ecologically about the impact to controlling rivers, can you lay out the "bad" for me? I would agree with you, but from a position of ignorance. Just wondering what the specific negative impacts actually are.

Having lived in Morgan City most of my life, I can attest to this. I've hit many a sand bar running the river. The Atchafalaya was once the deepest river in the world.
