What's bringing them on? Activity-based or coming out of nowhere?

Heating pad and Advil works miracles.

On a longer term basis, I really recommend doing yoga style stretching. I have a very bad back and have very little problems as long as I keep at my stretching routine.

Alcohol.

I "got right" around the beginning of 2013 and started having spinal shocks like a son of a bitch. Couldn't tie my shoe, bend over of wash my face, or sit in my chair for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Picked up the old Glenny again and was right as rain.

as the others say, heat will relax your back...so take a hot bath/shower or use a heating pad...

otherwise, Doan's backache pills work well for that...prepare to sleep, though...
