I supposed that the defense is going to argue that he can't get a fair trial because of the show.

The dude is either stupid for doing this interview or he has balls of steel and really thinks that he is THAT good that he can sit there and lie and get away with it.

I couldn't help but laugh at that stupid arse juror that thought he was innocent of all three. They were just framing this poor old man.

I'm just going to assume that whole jury got paid off.

When they first talked to that guy he said there was never more than 2 or 3 guilty votes while they deliberated. No way people are that stupid without getting paid.

Um...the whole letter thing, for one.

He is stupid for participating in the series. What exactly did he stand to gain by participating and opening himself up to further investigation into these murders? I just don't get it.

That's not how I remember it. He made collect calls like that back in the 80s and 90s to the Durst organization, but I'm pretty sure he's got a cell phone now.

Jarecki didn't screw him. He screwed himself.

I can't wait to see what the new evidence is out of the LAPD. Because what they have now seems fairly thin in terms of reasonable doubt.

A confession is pretty strong.

I'm sure his defense will say something along the lines of, "If he was guilty would he have participated in this interview? He did so because he had nothing to hide."

So? Do you imagine you escape charges because of that?

Dick DeGuerin...he painted a story for the jury like Jareki did for us. He's probably the top defense attorney in TX, if not the nation. Justice can be bought...by paying top $ for an attorney.

Screwing him, implies that he back stabbed him. Durst participated in a documentary about himself and the murders and lied. He was caught in his lies. That's not being "screwed" by anyone but himself.

I'm glad Jarecki screwed him. The guy killed 3 people, he deserves to be behind bars and if it takes a documentary director to do a better job putting him there than the police, than so be it.

A part of me thinks the reason he did the interviews and wrote the cadaver letter is that it's all just a game to him. I think he kind of enjoys the attention and the rush it brings him of almost getting caught.

In a sense he kind of did because he trusted Jarecki to put his side of the story out there. That's why he contacted Jarecki to do it.

Whether he screwed him or not it doesn't matter, it's just how you look at it. The bottom line is that he murdered 3 people and he deserves to be in prison, whether it's by getting screwed over or not, it doesn't matter. I have no sympathy for a murderer.

To screw someone is to cheat someone. Durst agreed to do interviews for a documentary about his life and view on the murders...if he "trusted" Jarecki that's his fault. He could have negotiated the entire interview and set ground rules, but all he said was he wanted to tell his story. His lawyer told him not to do it, because he knew, like nearly any breathing, rational human being would that once you started talking on tape you were in the process of screwing yourself.

I completely agree that he was an idiot for doing the interviews in the first place.

to me screwing someone over though is to leave someone in a bad situation. Which is exactly what happened. But durst did it all to himself, Jarecki just brought it all to light.

I'm very glad the interviews went the way they did. In this instance it's a great thing that Durst got "screwed over".

Couple things. First, there is SIGNIFICANT circumstantial evidence to convict him. Not just the letters, being in CA, motive, etc.

When he was arrested in New Orleans, he had checked into the hotel under a false name. shaved his head, and was carrying a revolver. Evidence of intent to flee. All admissible.

He is the furthest thing from an idiot. He nearly got away with three murders and is clearly a sociopath/narcissist who thinks he is above normal societal norms. Even Jarecki was pulled in and I quote "liked the guy".

He is a ruthless and completely insane serial murderer. I truly wonder if there are other victims out there. The one thing he isn't is an idiot.

ETA: The one idiotic thing he did was to steal that chicken salad sub in Pennsylvania with cash in his wallet and almost 40K in cash in his car.

You can be smart and still be an idiot for doing something....

You're telling me doing an interview about 3 murders you got away with is a smart idea?
