I agree, what were trying to do is talk about what makes LSU an unique experience, besides playing baseball. Academics is number 1 for all my sons, so I was simply asking what programs are LSU known for? At Mizzou the answer is Journalism. Obviously something like Petroleum Engineering would not be something a Midwest school would excel in, but it would make a school like LSU unique in our eyes.

PE is a sound degree at LSU especially when its not uncommon to graduate making 6 figures your first year.

you must not know about the program right now. It's so oversaturated it's not funny

No. 1 in Landscape Architecture. Your son will leave Baton Rouge boss at mowing yards and trimming hedges.

Internal audit is one of LSU's best disciplines and ranked very highly on a national level.

And hopefully he's a lefty with some nasty stuff.

it took me 7 years to get my bs in general studies.
i got about 18 hours credit from my time/mos in the military! i was trying to fasttrack to law.

but, instead i spent 6 years in corporate sales, 10 years w/ an airline, 20 years in hollywood as an extra/actor and 10 years as a h.s. teacher!

i've had an incredible exciting adventuous life.
i owe it all to lsu and imagination.
at 40 i was diagnosed alcoholic and i've been sober over 25 years.
at 60 i was diagnosed adhd. ive had a great life and i did it my way.

you sound like a wonderful parent and all you have to do is just be proud of whatever he does.

p.s. NEVER give his or your name on this board!
let the kid have fun.

Your statement alone shows that you know absolutely nothing about the program and the industry as a whole. Yes there are a lot more enrollees in the program now than there was 5 years ago, but it does nothing but drive competetion. I guarantee there is a higher percentage of business majors that graduate this year without jobs than PEs. I graduated from LSU with a BS of PE and am well in tuned with the need for Petroleum Engineers in todays energy sector.

Why are you comparing a broad category to a specific one?

I guarantee there is a budget percentage of IA graduates who find jobs than PE

If your son doesn't "realize" his dream is to pitch at a major university, then honestly he probably won't pitch for a major university

Electrical Engineering and MBA. Starting pay is up there close to $100,000 a year. I think LSU is building a new Building for EE and Computers.
