Tiger Bob us spot on with the 300.00
You see racks of those things at every gun show and no one buying. Unless it's a scarce model like an in the box new sweet sixteen they're not worth anything but to those that own them.

I paid $400 for a 1947 model standard 16 with a Cutts compensator in it a few year ago. The market went way down when they brought out the new A5s. New in box still brings a premium price, but modifications really knock it down.

My father in law has 191 guns that he inherited from his father that are all in the original box never shot. Every make and model you can imagine. No telling what they are worth.

. The poly was flush with the barrel...no extension. I don't understand what you are saying here?
The "poly choke" model I recall was unvented...the choke had the appearance of being flush with the original muzzle.

Even if the choke comes off the barrel was cut / modified.
Seen a lot of them fricked up like this. Of course, they USED to be used for hunting and not collecting. My dad, uncle and grandpa all shot Belgian made Brownings and they are all beat to shite!!! Dad had a couple of his completely refurbished, but that doesn't help the value that much.

I see some soft edges that make me think it might be reblued, but I could be wrong.

Disagree. Original in good shape-$800-1400 from what I've seen. He can probable get $700-800 from some dumbass online if he'll take that choke off. People pay irrational prices for those things. I've heard some dipshits say anything less than $1500 for a Belgian made in any shootable condition is a bargain(it's not FYI). Hard to set a price on an A5. Lots of people want "just one" and have no clue what they are worth. I sold one for $1500 that wasn't worth $300-400. I cleaned it up good. Had original box etc. Wasn't a Belgian either. Asked $2k and let him negotiate down.

Got a 1950's A5 browning sitting in the garage all rusted up. Was picked up out the trash right after Katrina. The fore arm is missing. I did spray it down with oil.

Worth about 450 (tops). I have a Sweet 16, a Light 12(Jap), and a Mag 12(Jap). I put synthetic stocks, a good pad and opened the choke to a loose Modified on the Mag. It is a duck killing machine. I have not shot my SBE since.
