Why are they spending more than one second on this decision?

Put bluntly, the shite you have to do in training and as a SEAL is nearly impossible. I can't give you specifics, but trust me ladies, think of the most hellish situation you can imagine, then double it, triple it—hell, times it by 100. It's that physically brutal.

My fear is that the standards would drop to allow for a higher graduation rate and that is not what the SEAL teams are about. BUD/S is about producing the best warriors on the planet—they don’t lower the standards for anyone. It might not be PC to say, but there would be no other way to graduate enough women to justify the expense of new facilities without lowering the standards. And lower standards would lead to utter disaster.

It will turn out worse than letting women into Infantry Officers Course for the Marines. 0% pass rate. But whatever, let the crossfit chicks get their shot, I guess.

Just like the Army's decision to allow them to try Ranger school. They know they'll wash out early and even the best won't last more than the first week or so. Nothing to lose really, women can't hack it but at least the Navy can say they gave them the opportunity.

I actually think having women on Subs is worse than letting them into the Seals, if they can make it in the Seals, let them have it. But don't take a 150 man crew with 2 bathrooms and limited bunks and cut it down to 1 bathroom because of 1 or 2 females.

Qualified female candidates can now apply for the Ranger Course.

Any woman or man hardcore enough to pass BUD/S wouldn't suddenly go weak-kneed over stuff like that.

If a woman can pass the physical standards, fine. If she can't, fine. But it's pretty odd to assume that someone dedicated to fitness to an extreme degree just can't control him or herself around the other sex.

As long as they don't lower the standards I have no issue with this.

I knew more then one seal and quite a few who rang that bell.

It is not for the weak of heart and it's never the muscle bound guys who get through buds.

Maybe create a BUDs lite and if they pass that then move up to the real BUDs. DC and their frickng Hollywood dreams. Just create a whole new special forces for females only. Take the top candidates from each branch and put in a training program geared more towards them. No point in taking away a spot from someone more qualified, like they do in the civilian sector. I think if the standards are lowered you would find it impossible to put these substandard graduates into a real SEAL team. TBH I can see a training scenario where that below par newb gets hurt bad enough to where they are processed out forever.

I don't see them passing.

If they let this happen, NO special considerations anywhere. No special crappers. No special showers. Nothing. These warriors will be in the worst of the worst, so there should be no additional creature comforts even down to medical.

If they can pass the tests without lowering the limits, I have no issue with this.
